Next year's schedules?

Anthing to get excited about before I take my annual leave?

You are a Salesianum fan correct? They are one of the few teams that has filled all their dates. The conference schedules are set, leaving most teams with a date or two to fill. Those dates might not get filled until late spring or early summer, like the previous poster stated, however the majority of the teams schedules are posted on website4sports now.

Salesianum 2018 schedule

Caravel with just one date to fill. Same schedule as last year except drop Cap Christian add Concord

Not exactly a Sals fan but I have an interest in the program. I see that they have a six week stretch with 5 road games including @ Penn, Midddletown, Smyrna and Episcopal. That will be challenging.

Its a awful these are the Only Delaware School that will play Sallies. But says something about there Head Coaches. They want to play the best teams. These teams are the ones always in the Hunt. Congrats to Middletown, Penn, Sussex Tech, St Marks, Concord and Smyrna... Delaware teams should look out for each other. Play each other to many team have out state teams on schedule. Smyrna - Sallies -Penn -Caravel all would rather play in state teams.

Couldn't agree more sportsfan. Unfortunately, for Smyrna and Middletown they are still looking for a game next season. This is one of few times Sallies schedule is complete this early.

Irvington was a one game deal against Smyrna, so they are looking for a week 3 Away game. And Upper Darby shafted another Delaware team by not coming to Delaware, so Middletown is looking for a Week 7 Home game.

Because of the conferences I don't think it can happen but it would be nice to see Penn/Concord play Smyrna, and say maybe Central/Cape/Tech come and play Middletown.

Seriously doubt Cape plays MHS ... they had the perfect opportunity last year ( both had the same date / week open ) & Cape opted to play D2 Milford.Dont understand why you would choose to play a D2 school instead of a D1 school

Once again, you are not going to draw sympathy for the Sals. As DE HS FB Fans we should be happy that the best D1 programs play each other for the most part. I am hoping that Dover and CR feel confident enough in their programs that they reschedule the Sals in a couple of years. I hope Cape regains the prominence that they had 2 decades ago. I wish SC would do a little more outreach. I would like to see the Sals play a couple of more Philadelphia Catholic League Schools instead of the current Maryland teams. Would love to see the Big S play Calver Hall and Loyola from Baltimore area.

@HSportsFan11 I understand what your saying but Salesianum has ALWAYS played 6 in state and 4 out of state teams every year. Even during their "down years" and with Coach Brazill in the 90s and early 00s and before him as well. Salesianum has and will always play out of state because they pride themselves in tradition and that is part of it. When I played from 2002 to 2006 for Salesianum our 4 out of state we're Chichester, Malvern, Interboro, and Bel Air, MD (2004 and 2005 seasons) and the 2002 and 2003 seasons were Father Judge, Downingtown (before they split and Pat Devlin played for them during that time), Malven, and Interboro.

So I don't believe it is about DE teams not scheduling them but rather the tradition of Salesianum always playing teams out of state.

In Salesianum programs they give out at the games it has on the back page ALL of the schools they have played out of state and how many times they have played those schools. You'd be surprised to see the list as it consists of close to 150 different schools from PA, MD, NJ, OH, NY and VA.

Interesting side note about Loyola.. They pulled out of the MIAA

Dear Alumni & Friends of Loyola Football,

After considerable evaluation and reflection, the purpose of this letter is to update you on the progression of our football program. The first step in moving the program forward was the hiring of our new football coach and leader of the program, Anthony Zehyoue. The second involved a thoughtful and comprehensive assessment. As a result of our assessment, we have decided to pursue a temporary transition from the MIAA “A” Conference to independent status for the 2018 season.

The landscape of the MIAA “A” Conference has changed over the last decade, and our results have not been consistent with our goal to strive for excellence in all of our co-curricular programs. As the talent pool continues to rapidly expand within the MIAA “A” Conference, we have carefully considered how this affects our student-athletes in a variety of ways — most importantly, their safety.

This transition provides flexibility to build a schedule that more closely aligns with our redevelopment efforts and includes steps that lead us back to MIAA “A” play within a few years. Our independent status will provide Loyola’s student-athletes with an opportunity to develop their talents, witness success, and build upon a strong foundation that will propel them to greater heights.

Below are a few key points regarding this transition:

- With the move to an independent schedule, we will continue to schedule games vs. MIAA opponents.

- The annual Turkey Bowl will continue as we approach our 100th game and beyond.

- We will continue to hold a high academic standard at Loyola, consistent with our mission to strive for intellectual ambition along with success on the field.

As we prepare for this transition, your support and assistance will help us accomplish our collective goals. Along with Principal John Marinacci, Director of Athletics Mike Keeney, and Head Football Coach Anthony Zehyoue, I have a great sense of hope and optimism for the program going forward.

We are eager to continue our efforts to develop young men who proudly represent Loyola, and who grow in their development as both a team and a brotherhood of Dons. In doing so, we will define our own success.

Thank you for your support and for so proudly being a part of the Loyola Blakefield community.

Roll Dons Roll,

raven....here is how clueless I am; does this mean that Loyola is going to be more intense with the FB program or are they deemphasizing it?

Due to everyone else being in a conference it is almost impossible for Sals to get more than 6-7 in state games against other D1 schools and hardly any D2 school outside of St. Marks will schedule them.

Caravel will be SOL also especially with the DSC but the are in a better situation than Sals because they could get instate D1 teams if schedule lined up but hardly any D2 team will schedule them because of point system. In the coming years until they get this D3 thing ironed out look for D2 teams looking to schedule more bout 1/3 D1 teams our blowout opportunities in D2. Teams like St. Andrews, Seaford, FSMA, Red Lion, Delcastle, Charter, Appo, Newark will have coaches calling like crazy to schedule them on next cycle.

Wtf you talking about? Who is my boy?
Obviously you have no wit The very rare steak dinner buying for the house guy. The one that paraded all around Delaware like a DuPont. And you all thought it was ok cause the running back got drafted and the kid could catch a ball

Still butt hurt seven years later? Sad. “House boy”. Hmm seems your true colors are shining through. But of course we always knew. You racist, hater ,trolling POS Happy New Year. Doubt you will have one though with all that hate and obsessing over one man but I hope you can get over it and move on. Just saying

" not so much about the scholarships with them" - remember when you said that nitwit?

Pretty sure that's gonna happen. It was a two year contract and is on both their schedules.

REBUILDING. Don't want to play the St Frances's, Gilmans and McDonoghs during that process
The MIAA was splitting into 2 conferences for next year I thought anyway. And they would have been in the lower division.........huh. First I've heard of it.

The MIAA is already 3 conferences A, B and C. They realign every two years this year is not a realignment year also you can be in the B conference 1 sport and in the A for another sport not sure why Loyola is pulling out a altogether other than what the AD wrote

Middletown gets its 10th game. Added Friendship Collegiate Academy (DC) at Middletown.. that might be an interesting game to go see

They are nothing like the recruited up teams during Coach Rahim's era.. DCSAA has reigned them in so they are a legit Charter School now.. They are even allowed to play in the DCSAA Championships which they typically win which isn't saying much DC football is pretty weak...

Better than average team should be a good bout with Middletown depending on what they have coming back but they are always decent.. Plenty of speed but may be disorganized at times and commit a bunch of penalties. Probably won't throw it much but they run the spread read option and will try and hit you over top if you load the box. They will be bigger up front than any team Middletown will face and they always have good RB's as well as DB's... MT will have their hands full and may find it hard to pass on them better to run straight at em
