NFL Combine

Hopefully Quadree can prove himself at a training camp. He may not get drafted but will definitely get invited somewhere. I was hoping he would run in the low 4.4s which would have helped his stock . at 5ft 8 180lbs, having that sub 4.5 was almost necessary, especially if a team wants him as a return man. His other numbers were very average as well for a WR....4.28 shuttle, 12 reps 225, 32.5 vert, and 10ft broad jump. He's not weak in any area but average in all. I was actually surprised he only (ha "only") ran a 4.5 as i thought he would he somewhere between 4.38 to 4.43.

Yea I was definitely surprised he didn't run faster. Still think he can have a role as a return man because straight speed isn't nearly as important as you would think but for me anything past that he would need to improve a lot.

Another year in school would have served him well. Hope he gets picked up but 4.5 and only one dimensional at Pitt as a kick returner could be a tough sell at the next level. He does have talent and could be a spark for any NFL team returning kicks but if things don't go his way, he may regret not getting that degree.

Yeah IMO is he doesn't get drafted, but gets picked up as a FA and makes a team as a practice squad player his first year. Then based off his development after that year on the practice squad will determine if he is just a 1 or 2 year practice squad player, or if he develops and gets a shot in a 53 man roster.

Wait, he had a year of eligibility left? Why would he leave?

Here is my take on why he left (besides having those mentoring him telling him to).

His sophomore year, he obviously had a phenomenal year as a returner and solid year at WR earning 1st team AA Honors. His junior year he had a down year in comparison to his sophomore year. I believe him declaring for the draft early was a strategy and "playing it safe". If he had another "down year" like he did his junior year, then the weight of his AA sophomore year would diminish. Scouts may look at it as a fluke year with his success. By declaring a year early his AA year is still relevant and scouts will still look at that year with consideration for picking him up. It is a risk you take declaring early, but I believe that if he had another down year, then his draft stock would have decreased significantly.

It wasn't just the down year as the problem. If it had just been a "down year" I think he would have stayed but I think he was becoming marginalized in the offense and didn't believe it would get better next season. But there could be other factors we don't know about for why he left as well.
