The complex will include three full-sized, professional basketball courts, two indoor turf soccer fields, a sports performance and athletic training area, and retail and office space, the developers said. The space will be amenable to other sports, too, like volleyball and lacrosse. Parking will be available adjacent to the facility, the developers said.

BPG said several groups will work out of the space including the Delaware Football Club; the Future Soccer Stars Foundation; Titus Sports Academy; and the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, which will offer pediatric orthopedic services and sports physical therapy.

Unpopular opinion but as a lifelong Wilmingtonian, this doesn't help the entire community. There's a Boys & Girls Club in my neighborhood that's been laying dormant and vacant for years and other BNGCs and PAL could've used that money, but I've long given up on Wilmington politicians actually doing anything for city residents.

Thanks for finding the negative in a positive story

Glad to do it, especially when I live here and see my city falling apart but only certain segments of the population benefiting from gentrification, rebuilding and the like.

Very well said. I grew up within the Boys & Girls Clubs as well as playing for the PAL & it seems so forgotten these days.

Gate...what areas of the city do you think are on the gentrification track? No I am not an investor. I do have a couple of sons and a mother who still lives in town.

It is funny. I love Wilmington. Born and raised there but left when I got married years....ago....

The entire city, to be honest. For one, I can't recall "South Wilmington" ever being used before when it was always Southbridge. Market Street Mall is total hipster yuppie paradise and moving the buses away from Rodney Square because they're uncomfortable with city residents hanging out there proves it. Only a matter of time before North/Riverside/West Side/East Side have new names and a population that matches that of pre-'68 riots Wilmington.
