Tough first round match up Raven... Should be a great game.. Believe winner of Ghigh caravel game takes it all.. enjoy!

They didn't rotate. D1 was early last year and D2 was late last year.

This is why I hate UD. It needs to go back to Del State, one game Friday night and one game Saturday night. Better playoff atomsphere.

You are correct D1 was first last year,, I didn't stay for D2 forgot about that

I'll be the first to say I look down on D2. I have non reason for it. Just do!

I've seen hundreds of games D1 and D2 and imo the play is different. Speed of the game, physicality. Every year there's at least 1 or 2 D2 teams that show me otherwise but for the majority D1 has always been a better game and draws more crowds.

My only thinking why they didn't wanna rotate is because they know a Smyrna-Middletown final would draw a huge crowd, hoping they stay for the D2 matchup as well.

The bright side is plenty of choices to park and too early for UD officials to be an ass on tailgating. So ill take that for the win.

Totally agree...Loved going back to back nights for both games.

The weather was perfect for Smyrna vs Sals last year,.. The only reason I left was I started to get cold and I knew I could watch online from home while I refueled

Agree with you guys. UD is too big to create a really exciting playoff atmosphere (except for last year's Smyrna crowd), and DelState is much cozier. But God forbid an important event take place below the canal. Oh well, guess nobody asked us....lol

So, even if I had caught the Tatnall bonus point my scenarios would still have been wrong because of the DIAA 'rope a dope' with Elkton. A tricky business indeed. It's still Black Doug's fault though! I would like to see the committee try to calculate the points accurately with him outside their window screaming 'he ain't my homie!'

You think I don't know their history? Wasn't my time though. I've been asked it before...would I feel the same way if they were D2 now, or when they drop after the 3rd high school in town is complete......and my answer is still the same. D2 is the little brother. Always has been, always will be. And I laugh every time someone mentions a D2 team can compete with the best of D1.

Yes I'm aware in some cases they can and have been. Still not going to change my mind. It's like college D1 and FCS...big bro and little bro and every now and then a D2 can pull the upset on the bigger teams.

I feel like I rattled someone's feathers with my statement.......Porky?

Just on sheer numbers, D2 teams have a hard time keeping up with a strong D1 team. Caravel held their own and then some in the first half against Sallies this season, but by the second half the CA linemen were exhausted.

I would have liked to see the 2012 D2 Champ Bucs play the D1 Champ Middletown team. That would have been a good game.

No worries, you didn't rattle my feathers. I wasn't replying to your entire post, just the statement I quoted. That you are familiar with their history answers my question. It's all good.

Is it just me ? but I am just not interested in the D1 match ups other than a Smyrna vs MT final
Not interested in Div I football Match Ups. You think these teams in Div I that are not named Smyrna and Middletown are not good football teams. These teams put a fine product on the field. You are not a true High School football fan if at Play Off time you don't want to see as many games as you can. William Penn Coach and the Sallies Coach and also Concords Coach I know really well. For you to down those teams or the Div I. I take that personal. Then again your a Caravel dad. Who knows it all. You should go Coach a High School team. But your a KEY BOARD ALL STATER!!! JOKE you are...

A great D2 v D1 match-up would also be 2013 HVT vs Salies... HVT was big, fast and humming on all cylinders going into the play-offs.. I think they could have beat Sals.. I don't think the 2012 Bucs could have beat Mtown but they could have given them a game like staying within 2 TDs

Agree on both hypothetical match ups. 2013 HVT team was unstoppable when playoffs began. Buck Jones was a beast.

That would be a real good one...
TY, in the end I think CR was better, but Milford moved up to D-1 the next season and refused to drop Poly from their schedule. In the end, it cost Milford a chance at a playoff birth. From that point on, they just kept getting worse.

It was before my time in DE so I would have no real insight,, other than I know the CA 2008 team was real good based on talking with folks

Yes, I actually got to see them twice that year. I went up and saw the IR game and was in the stands for the fantastic game against Laurel. That was a very good team.

It's always tough to judge D2 v D1....Concord's 04 championship team didn't give up more than 12 points to anyone they played...except CR who put up 42 on them. I think the game is closer if they had played again but that's how Saturdays go sometimes.

I remember them doing the same thing in 2003 in terms of points allowed, but think they got beat by St. Marks for their only loss of the season. Don't remember the score though.

34 - 12 was the score of the 2003 game. Keep in mind that was a very good St. Mark's team who suffered their only loss of the year when they were upset by Newark in the finals.
