POLL: SM vs WP

The black and cherry have the better transfer. They won it in 2002 with Caravel transfers, mainly 44 JT Laws and they will win it in 2014.

History repeats itself the names just change. I really need to let this go.

JT Laws had a great season and dominated against the Spartans in the State Championship in 02. That was a cold day in Seaford, DE..game was moved cause upstate sites had too much snow still laying on top of the fields. Gutty performance by a banged up SM team, but couldn't keep up with the Colonials that day.

Cheers,

Busch

Dooley has the WP players ready to chew thru metal to get to the qb. WP rolls on!!!

Had to give Spartans the nod. Spartakos promised a hoody :) and a tailgate meal/drink and a photo opp.........
SM has done some things to slow down the run, and their line is IMHO better. This was a game that was 7-0 with 30 secs left in 3rd qtr and WP had everything fall into place for them in rd 1.
SM can also throw the ball as well as anybody right now and WP will not be able to load the box on them as they did in game 1. Expect this to be the best game of the year....shame 1 of them will have their season end on the same field where it started.

Jawnsky and Sparty??

@Jawnsky

Coach Dooley asking two Clones where the porta-pots are at Concord Saturday....

St.Marks can pass well but they haven't had the pressure that Penn will put on the QB and there line is definitely not better.

Easy .. Move into a new school zone... DE has school choice,. It doesn't even matter what zone but just a different one.

2.4.4.3.3 The transfer is the result of a change in residence by the custodial parent(s), legal guardian(s) or Relative Caregiver to the attendance zone of a public school that student was not attending. If, as a result of the change of residence, the student could now enroll in a different public school, the student may make a one-time election and select any school including a private school. A change in residence has occurred when all occupancy of the previous residence has ended and a new legal residence has been established. Maintaining dual residency for purposes of athletic eligibility shall render the student ineligible.

Personally I feel if a kid is legally enrolled at a school public or private and is in good standing academically they should be able to participate in any after school sport or activity,... DE is a bit different then many states because of school choice,, Take Md for example... In MD you have to live in the school zone to even go to the school.. sure some parents lie and give false documents to go to a school for athletics... In that case they should be ineligible and punished BUT if a kid is legally enrolled in a school he should be able to participate if academically eligible. Regardless of what year the kids is in.. JMHO..

Penn hasn't really played a meaningful game in three weeks or so, so I'd be a little concerned with how they start out and that might work to the Spartans advantage.

Keyword: might. Still like Penn to win this one.

Penn hasn't played a meaningful game since Concord 10-18-14 5 weeks ago.

High school DBs are not used to seeing a passing game like St Marks. Matt Williams will make a big difference in the game against Penn. He is the best passer in the state. He has 4 very good receivers plus the RBs can catch the ball too. Will it be enough? I think if they can stop the big plays on D St Marks wins the game.

Any body can pass the ball against DMA and St Es he hasn't thrown the ball against a Defense like Penn and that D-Line

Really how about Montclair, Concord or Sallies? He shredded Montclair who would beat anyone in Delaware including Penn. An no not everyone can pass. How come no one else does? He adds a dimension that they have not seen this year. A team that can both run and pass.

They were getting crushed by Montclair that was all give me yards and Sallies they were playing 10 yards off the receivers and Concords DBs stink

I agree DOGS St. Mark's has not seen a defense yet like William Penn's . Cant wait to see how Williams reacts to the pressure from the Penn DEFENSE

I would be interested to know what Spalding was doing? ... St M QB had a pretty bad day stat wise that game..

You have no idea. His first 2 TDs against Montclair tied the game at 14. His third was the opening drive in the third Q made the score 29-21. I am sure Sallies were just letting him throw too. Concord is so bad they were leading Penn after 3 and tied in the 4th.

If the Concord DBs are so bad why didn't Penn pass?

I guess playing them once already does not count?

Old Timer ,

I think you will be quite surprised after this weekend . I dont think St. Mark's passing game is going to be as big as you think with Penn's DEFENSE and not to mention the cold and the swirling winds at Bill Cole Stadium. Not sure Williams is going to have the time this week to throw like he has in the past . Juat my thoughts and opinions. Good Luck to both teams.

Yes Old Timer they played once already and GOOSE EGGED them 24-0 I think it will be even higher scoring this time for PENN . If my memory serves me correct PENN controlled the whole third quarter that game and had 3 penalties that held them back during their drive . I just think this is PENN's year they have been tested all year from day 1 and passed each test every time beating St. Mark, Salesianum, Middletown, and Concord all big games for PENN not too mention the blow out to Newark .

Just a different way of thinking as everyone seems to be discussing SM passing attack vs WP defense, but what about the WP offense vs SM defense. In the first meeting time of possession had to be over 2 to 1 for WP offense and if they can grind out yardage again doesn't that keep the ball away from SM offense? Also Reggie Carroll is completely healthy for the first time since the Middletown game and Watts didn't play in the first game either. Much respect to Williams and the SM passing game but I think WP offense keeps them off of the field and the defense makes enough stops to make it a fairly comfortable WP win. WP 35 - 14

St Marks only in state loss was to Penn. Williams did not play. They had the ball in the red zone more than once and did not score. Game was 7-0 at the half and 10-0 after 3. Final score was not as close as the game. They beat Sallies, Concord and Sussex Tech.

The 2 toughest positions to learn and play for high school kids is QB (if you pass) and DB. Very few teams pass the ball in high school. DBs hardly ever play against teams that do so they are not used to it. If the kid gets the time to throw he will get his share of yards and points.

I agree NUK thats is another good point Marvell Watts didnt even play in the game against St. Marks. So you might as well pick your poison if your St. Mark's DEFENSE Reggie Carroll or Marvell Watts not to mention the other backs they have Penn has a loaded up stable of backs from the looks of it every game I have been to .

rr, you probably know more about the case than I...but I think that there was probably a waiver of the rules due to a hardship as outlined in...section 9. DIAA has granted waivers periodically. In Jack Holloway's last year as DIAA director they granted a couple of students a 5th year of eligibility. The students had repeated 9th grade....

DIAA Regulations

@ Chesdel.. to be honest I just assumed he may have moved.. I don't really know anything about his case,,, Now that I think about it.. He wasnt eligble week 1 so maybe there was a waiver hearing or something.. DIAA hasn't posted any meeting minutes since June.. so..can't look it up..
