I like both of the rankings so far, Also did cape lose a lot of seniors last year? I would have ranked them above Penn but maybe they lost more then I thought.Delaware Live released preseason team rankings today. What are everyone's thoughts?
D1
Salesianum
Sussex Central
Caesar Rodney
William Penn
Cape Henlopen
D2
DMA
Saint Marks
Laurel
Lake Forest
Indian River
I don’t know much about down state D2 schools but do you believe Indian River could out do Lake forest?Lake lost their two state champs from last year and a solid 215 and 165. Not easy to replace that kind of talent at a small school. Can’t just recruit like some of those other schools on the list. It’ll be interesting to see if they even make the D2 duels this year. Thought for sure they’d take a step back although Russ and Howard should make a really good duo to lead this team.
I think IR could and my surprise team would be Delmar. I actually think they’re going to be better than IR assuming none of their kids transferred out of course. They had some good young talent last year. They lose their 190-285 and a few middle weights but they had some impressive 8th and 9th graders on varsity last season. They’ll be lead by senior Jazmin Snead who I think will make noise this year in whatever weight class he’s in. Was ranked last year for most of the season.I don’t know much about down state D2 schools but do you believe Indian River could out do Lake forest?
If I remember correctly they lost 4 or 5 from their lineup. A few of them very solid and very capable wrestlers. I know that they handled Penn pretty well in their dual meet last year so I’m not sure what has them ranked below pennI like both of the rankings so far, Also did cape lose a lot of seniors last year? Delmar had a lot of seniors move on from last year and they lost a couple to Tech. I don't think they will do much this season. Indian River will definitely be tougher than in years past.I think IR could and my surprise team would be Delmar. Cape should have no problems with WP.If I remember correctly they lost 4 or 5 from their lineup. A few of them very solid and very capable wrestlers. I know that they handled Penn pretty well in their dual meet last year so I’m not sure what has been then ranked below penn
After seeing all the transfers going there, I’d have to say it’s gonna be a tall task but as much as I hate to say it, Central has always been the standard for wrestling in DE I feel. If there’s a team that has a shot I’d say it’s themDoes anyone think central can beat sallies? I saw the transfers in the last thread and now I don’t know if the race will be as close as I previously believed. But again anything happens so I’m not counting anyone out yet.
That's a senior transfer, unless it's his feeder. Tech is a vo-tech so not sure if it is still a transfer. Bigger question is did he leave or did he not have an option to stay.Did not realize Hobe Givens transferred to IR 👀
I think it is his feeder because he did participate this weekend. It will be interesting weight class though. He jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Gavin Mundy and won 14-13 but then Andrews put it on him in the finals at PolytechThat's a senior transfer, unless it's his feeder. Yeah I was surprised, all their talent is still very young. With all of the transfers to sallies from delaware being something, their biggest transfer looks like a kid from PA. Absolutely walked through solanco at 152 and looks like he is only a sophmore.
Andrews looked strong at 126. He is going to be tough to beat this year.I think it is his feeder because he did participate this weekend. It will be interesting weight class though. He jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Gavin Mundy and won 14-13 but then Andrews put it on him in the finals at Polytech
Not really anyone’s business if he had an option to stay. That's a senior transfer, unless it's his feeder. Tech is a vo-tech so not sure if it is still a transfer. Bigger question is did he leave or did he not have an option to stay.
Andrews did look really good. It will be interesting where people end up this year. Lucian was 127 at solanco and baksh was 121. Stratton was 113 for ironman. Guerrieri was at 120 for Southern slam. Copes was up to 138.Andrews looked strong at 126. He is going to be tough to beat this year.
Mundy losing was an upset but he and Givens had a really close match at states last year. Rhoades was a surprise but I also chalk it up to less then a week of practice due to football. When the season is fully underway I think he is going to be sitting in that top 2 discussionSallies is going to be tough to beat. They have some holes at 215 & 285 but besides that they will be hard to beat.
DMA looked very good this week and one of there returning starters didn’t wrestle this weekend. DMA & Sallies are clear cut favorites. Both sallies and DMA are young too.
A few upsets this weekend. Mundy & Rhoades were the two that surprised me the most
