Sallies last second shot

a picture is worth a thousand words, unfortunately the game is in the record books & remember refs at all levels make mistakes & miss calls, we're all human. the clock definitely expired

The problem here is that the official in charge of clock DID get it right. Then was overruled

Does this shot/call get in Sallies in the tournament or do you all think they would have been in with a loss

this win for Sals and loss for St. E's will not in itself determine a bid. Both teams will have their shot at the tournament. Its about playoff births and byes. Not a math wiz so dont have that answer.

No one will know if it was a win or loss for either team till the brackets are set. That extra loss for St. E's might give them a better match up.
The real issue is the mandatory 3-man system is may need a 4th man..

What is the mandatory 3-man system?

The ref's complaining they need a third b/c the game moves so fast now. Used to be big games got a third, now all games have to have 3 at least blue hen public schools. Some calls missed with two last year, more calls missed with 3 b/c they don't know whose responsibility it is now(my opinion). Now they are complaining they are short ref's, and have JV ref's working the 2nd game after already doing a game.

why does it even matter if it was after the buzzer I'm really not following here, shot should count as long as he had possession before the buzzer went off which it looks like it did.

Strong argument on here. My son used to play in South Carolina and they enforce an "over under" rule on buzzer beaters... anything within ten seconds of the buzzer counts...

Wow you are quite possibly the dumbest human being on the planet did you even play basketball?!?!
in fact, not only did i play basketball, i coached as well. maybe the rules have changed since my day. this "new school" basketball is really absurd, kids don't know the basics anymore

There is a shot clock above Sallies scoreboard because the Wilmington Blue Bombers of the Eastern League used to play their games there.in the 1960's. Yeah it's been there awhile. Then they moved to St Mark's when it first opened. I think St Mark's had the 24 sec clock on the floor, so none left at St Mark's.But, That is why the court at St Mark's is 94 ft. and the gym so big. Then the Blue Bombers folded after a year or 2 at St Mark's. Yeah! Go Waite Bellamy!

I saw the Blue Bombers at St Marks. I wish they used a shot clock in high school.

Do you remember Waite? He was their star. I remember him at a sports banquet talking about shooting in the dark with chain nets. He said he would listen for that sound, it wasn't a swish, it was a ching-ching. That's how he knew the shot went in. Soon. I was outside in the dark at Conrad HS shooting on chain nets and waiting for that sound. I just looked up his stats. He avg. 29.9 in 69-70 for the Wilmington Blue Bombers and in 70-71 he avg 14 for the Delaware Blue Bombers. I believe they changed when they moved to St Mark's and then that was it, they folded.
It is weird that the clocks are still there. I will ask someone next time I'm there. Because they have changed the backboards since then. Remember when there was a white board at bottom of the backboard at Sallies? The earliest I remember being in the Sallies gym was a playoff game between Conrad and De La Warr. In fact, the first game basketball game I ever attended was at The Delaware Field House. De La Warr beat Conrad 61-50 in the 3rd HS Championship. I was hooked after that.

That man sounds like he has one long cock... thanks for the history always good to learn more about the game
