So you guys were all right about Sallies. Very, very impressive football team. Big, physical and very well coached. You could see that clearly. They are an old school power team running Power, Counter, Sweeps..little option. I thought their game plan for their young JV QB was excellent. They put him in a position to be successful with quick throws, play action and boots.. Very well done. Sallies defense played a 3-3 stack type and played very well.. Line and LBers are very impressive. DL was very good. Their secondary not the most athletic group but again very discipline, physical and overall played good assignment football against a very explosive high octane offense.
Sallies very much reminds me of some of the really good Loudon County teams we face down here.. Briar Woods, Stonebridge, Tuscarora.. Built like those teams.. With similar kids.
You guys were right. Coach Dinardo is a very good coach. The product and scheme showed it. Loved their overall offensive scheme of power football with BIG RBS, BIG TES AND BIG FULLBACKS!! LOVE THAT SYTLE.
Very interesting contrast in styles today. Have to admit when it was 18-6 with under a minute and Sallies was driving I thought the game was getting away from Smyrna. That INT with 30 seconds left very well could have saved the game for Smyrna.
Overall that was a game for the ages.. great game.
