It's that time of the year, time to get hot, the jokes over, drum roll please........

Blast from the past, when Brian and Rich Long were around, originally posted on this board March 2003, over ten years later this post still motivates me. Thank you Old Cav.

In 1966 before the first Sallies/Middletown game a lot of us players would go and watch Sallies play.
Everytime the Sallies fans saw us there they would call us farmers and say that we should be home milking cows.

The night of the first game one of the parents went out and bought some cow bells and gave them to some of the local parents and fans. When we came onto the field they started ringing the bells and it just caught on from then on.

It kind of died out for a few years in the 80's and then started back-up after DiNardo put Middletown back in the winning ways of Billings.

So, all those people who hate the cowbells when they play Middletown can thank Sallies for helping start the tradition.
-----------

I bought my original bell from the Middletown Agway in 1986, it has seen action ever since.

Have a great Sallies week and always remember and never forget....

"The day you beat Sallies, the day you beat Sallies in anything, it is a GREAT DAY!"

Pending which SALS/MT team shows up, I hope to get to see if MT can show some continuity and consistency with good sportsmanship of course.

I taking the Cavs, based solely on the FATigue factor.

20-17.....Go CAVS!

Sals struggles against the pass and Middletown can launch it and execute with their great duo at QB and WR. I have middletown 34-21.

Really stretching it baller with great! Not sure you've been following MT this season, # 6 has as many drops as catches, # 2 has almost as many INT as TD's he an -average QB and he tries to do way to much for his limited athletic ability ! You must be related! How about establishing a running game which got them to finals last year! I think the rest of league knows at this point where 90% of the passes are going! Might want to change up game plan for Sals, QB won't have anytime in pocket and he gets easily rattled and is too lead footed when he scrambles! Sals 28 - MT 6 ( QB 4 turnovers)

Mob- we agree...
I have said it many times already....
DP to DP to DP = losses to quality teams.

If MT can keep Reeder to 2 TD's and/or Sals to less than 21---- they have punchers chance, I do not see it. What I do see is a lot of YELLOW on the field......and it aint gonna be due to bad calls LOL

Agreed!! I just can't see them stopping Reeder, if he gets to second level there is no one going to bring him down. I see another big night for #28! I thought earlier in the season that MT maybe had a chance but with the loss of there top RB not, I don't see anyone even close to his ability stepping up in their line up JMO. Maybe they do I just haven't seen it yet! I also think MT will be good for at least 3-4 unsportmanship/personal fouls & 3-4 turnovers by QB! he seems to CHOKE in big Games! With 1 exception ST last year he played his best game by far!

Mobhits! As an MT guy, are you managing expectations or sandbagging the board??

Just keeping it real Stick, as much as I root for the boys in blue, I do feel that I have to give my take as I see it, like if that's worth anything! "Sandbagging" never was my style, unless using them to make someone swim with the fishes, but I do think they will be in mix at the end but only if the get a few of the pcs. fixed, starting with the O-line and getting their running game back on track, I guess one goes hand in hand with the other. DP to DP is not going to bring home the ship that's a fact , they had the best air attack in state w/ #4 & #12 and only did it once, the first one was won by a run game in the second half against Newark! Defensively they are sound!

no mobs. I meant what I said. If they score 24 or more they are sure to win, but my prediction is 21-20.

Kind of have to agree with jawnsky and mob on part of their analysis. Though I think Middletown can win with their defense.

I don't think the point spread will be as wide as their predictions but I question the play calling on the offense at times. It doesn't fit the players skill sets that he has.

If reeder can be contained to 2 or less touchdowns, I think Middletown wins. Cannon has define it'll improved his ability to throw but I think Middletown will load the box and make sallies beat them through the air. The secondary has had its bad moments this season but for the most part is pretty solid.

Should be a good game. I think the final will be 24-17.

23-19 Salesianum

Middletown probably has the better defense but I think Reeder gets his yardage anyway. The Sals defense will get enough stops against a Middletown offense that lacks a real game breaker.

"I think Middletown will load the box and make sallies beat them through the air."

They have done precisely that for the last three games.

Stick , I did say previously that MT D will hold Reeder to under 75yds, I do think he wont get alot of yards but he gets on the board often, the issue is if MT's O goes 3 and out often like they did against WP, Reeder gets 25-30 carries hard to say how many! My thought is #92 has a big game for Sals, MT defense is run heavy and forgets the TE IMO!

Mob - you weren't sandbagging. This is not an MT team of past years.
Stick #2 has got 3 turnovers only 1st half, MT O is really missing #33, he is their play maker! But not sure he would make a difference need to get QB on the bench where he can't hurt them! Plus these refs BLOW!

REALLY sloppy play from both teams. And no energy on the field or in the stands. And the refs do blow. Awful.

MT has lost 4 in a row to Sallies and have only scored a total of 43 points in those games...................and last night MT left 2 Time Outs on the board and made the decision not to use them when Sallies got the ball back with 6 minutes to ago........

Father Judge stopped The Slowski offense. So did Middletown. So will Concord. The 9 hour start time difference will create a genuine hardship.

I heard that there was a penalty discussion in the first half and a minute and a half went off the clock during the discussion. . Then the clock was not re adjusted. Maybe I misunderstood.

2015....but your point is well taken. The Cavs had some big turnvovers in their loss to the Slowskys last year. That includes a scoop and score by one of the Sals D linemen.
