This is something we all pretty much knew,,, I doubt anyone thought ST had a chance regardless who was out for Sals. There is a reason they are referred to as the clones..

Might be time for a Hall of Fame reception for BDN. It's time to say thanks, you were great and all....
BDN is a hall of famer..something like 263 wins..I think this team just doesn't have the athletes to win a tournament game. If they manage to beat SMH they are a one and doner in the tournament.
A few coaches were at tonight's game...Marvin Dooley and his consigliere...and the SMH guys.
All of this is window dressing in the lead up to MDT-Smyrna game,
It's time. The William Peen game was almost won by the kids themselves . There was nobody coaching on the sidelines just older men and 2nd teamers watching a game. Nobody had a board " you do this if he does that" If you are handed the keys to a brand new car it's going to get a ding here and there but keep it washed at least
7 Championships, 6 2nd place, consistently plays the hardest schedule in the state and they might go what? 7-3 for the season after next weeks game? Yeah, I think the program will be just fine and the Gold helmets will be back next year in everyone's face again. Sallies haters are the best!
you gotta be kidding me.....make no mistake BDN is a very good coach and will certainly be a hall of famer but the program itself isn't even the most successful in the state!
...and this has been brought up on this board too many times....when you are a coach at Salesianum -you should win, no other program has the luxury of having 140-180 kids each year. And don't get me started on the toughest schedule in the state....just cause you play a game outside the state does not make that opponent a beast (FJ) (MLK)
Bottom line.....gotta respect Sals storied program, but a monkey could coach there and go 5-5 every year.
Uh...yes- they will be just dandy. BDN is a great coach, Sallies has the man-power year after year, and this "miserable" 7-3 season of theirs will serve as a launch point for next year's success.
Jawnsky; if you knew ANYTHING about the program you would know that they did have a "monkey" coach there for 11 years. Over that time, his record with "140-180 kids a year" was three wins over .500 (two by virtute of forfeit). And yes, they do have the toughest schedule, every year. No conference where you have 6 wins in the bag before you even suit up for the year. If you think I'm kidding go check the Calpreps website. They have scheduling records going back for years. Its there.
Sallies was winning championships before I was alive. Yeah they're a great program . Do they have the luxury of an all boys school? Sure. They also have higher academic standards as well.
BDN is a great coach. If you're expecting him to change then forget it. Sallies isn't going to all of a sudden start chucking the ball all over the place . His formula has been working for decades . This year is not one of Sallies best teams but they still are top 3 or 4 in the state and most likely will qualify for the tourney again.
Next week they will blow out my Spartans (unfortunately) and continue their dominance in that rivalry .

After this "devastating" season maybe they should fire BDN??? Then next year drop Smyrna for Charter and Caravel for Delcastle.
Nothing quite like getting home from your game at 9:45 and still have 2 hours of homework to do.
With St Marks basically out of the picture Sals is only going to get stronger couple that with new digs the Evil Empire grows even bigger.. If you build it they will come.. New nickname for the stadium "Death Star"

The Penn loss ticked me off because the kids played so poorly. No excuses. Penn is a great team and Dooley's IQ is a lot higher than he likes to project. At the end of the regular season (if the Sals don't collapse against St. Mark) the gents will have lost to 3 teams with a combined record of 29-1.
The anti BDN sentiment is interesting. What was the record of the Sals in the 5 years before BDN arrived? Is he stubborn? Yes. So was Lombardi, Colonel Blaik and Montero.
I expect I'll be getting a letter sometime in the near future.
I think they should put in a train station. That way folks can take the train to game and not have to deal with parking

I do think ~38 years of educating our youth, the future of this great country, out weighs 11 "MONK<e>" years of coaching.

So Your Calling Coach Dooley stupid?? He is the classy is Guy you would ever want to meet. Look what he does at Wp with very little football talent. He puts his heart and soul into them kids. No were gets the talent Sallies gets. Since he has been at Wp they are 2-2 against the Sallies bunch. Talking with him he has nothing but respect for them. He always praises them and how they run there program. I know first hand he really respects Dinardo who was his Blue Gold Coach back in 1987. For the record sit down with him he is very Smart man. Who has nothing but respect for evry high school Coach.
Reading comprehension is key The guy said Dooley's IQ is bigger than he projects ,, Meaning he is smart but humble .. On another note Penn has a ton of talent in that school being one of the highest enrollments in the state.. Getting them academically elligble to play is another story
