Say it ain't so about the Smyrna QB

Now that we have heard from perplexed fans of DE football, can someone give the rationale as to why someone could make a legitimate case for another selection. I don't mean to put any kid on the spot so I'm just looking for an alternative way of looking at things that might have been in the voting coaches mind. It might actually make a lot of sense so I am asking a real question if anyone cares to answer it. Not looking for any bashing or emotional tirades...just discussion. Thanks.

I've only seen the kid on Hudl videos and talked to some friends/coaches that have seen his body of work, and the only conclusion that I can come up with is the other coaches in that conference didn't want the whole 1st Team offense from Smyrna(skilled positions), OR they've seen more of the Dover kid from past years BUT this kid (from Smyrna) comes out of nowhere and puts up record-like numbers for the first time in his career........ Either way it's total crap!!!

Just my thoughts. I'm free this Friday night so I think I will ride down to see him in-person.

He should be 1st team all state there is no excuse for him being 2nd Team All Conference.

You never know with this crazy state of DE, (ranked 50th in the country when it comes to HS sports if my memory is correct, via Sports Illustrated), he might end up with 1st Team All-State!
lol

Did Smyrna and Dover play against each other this year? If so, how was the QB comparison??

I believe Smyrna THROTTLED Dover.. But hey did they not put up a ton of points on everyone this year.. How their QB is not first team is honestly a joke. Very pathetic..

I've seen both Nolan Henderson and Tristan Harris play in person. Harris is the bigger kid and is quite mobile with a strong arm. But Henderson really is the conductor of that offense. Smart kid who always seems to make the right reads and rarely makes a "what was THAT" kind of throw. I think that, along with Smyrna going unbeaten in conference, should've been good enough for 1st team honors, but only the coaches know what they're thinking when they cast these votes.

As others have said every year some kids get snubbed while others get voted that shouldn't. Just can't think of a more egregious example other than Randy White. At the very least they could've voted two first team qb's. I hope football isn't like baseball where you can't be considered for all-state unless you were first team all-conference. Can anyone say NH isn't at the very least one of the top three qb's this year? Would like to be a fly on the wall at any all-conference meeting. From what I've heard there's a lot of horse trading that goes on.

I just read an article that the kid from Dover got a full ride from Division 1 Towson. It doesn't seem too crazy that he was a first all conference selection regardless of stats. He even was 2nd team all state so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that the kid could play. After I read the article, I remember everybody on here taking a dump on him for being voted all conference. I never saw him play but the experts on here must not have seen what a Division 1 program saw.

I don't think the comments were so much about Harris not being a good QB, but rather that Henderson was way better (and I still agree). Congrats to Harris for the scholarship and I'm sure everyone here wishes him well.

All Conference or All State is not supposed to be about who has more potential as a collegiate athlete.. It is who is the best High School player at that time.... Henderson was. the all conference selection was a joke..

Harris may go on to start at QB for Towson and make the NFL, Henderson may decide to play baseball in college,, Neither has anything to do with who was the best QB in the Hen North in .2015 It was Henderson hands down

I saw Henderson play twice in the playoffs. He was good but also benefitted from a strong supporting cast and a scheme that had kids running wide open. Dover kid probably didn't have that.

Approximately 140 days to reach back but the post is about good news. Congrats to young Harris.
It looks like Dover will be "new look" next year.

Henderson reminds me of Football Johnny his freshmen year at Texas A & M.

I read the article too. It said nothing about a scholarship. It only read "going" to Towson. Huge difference between scholarship kid and walkon/preferred walkon. After reading this I looked at every major recruiting page I could and Towson's own athletics website to confirm. Harris is not listed as being offered (may be updated later). Nevertheless congrats to T Harris- go rep 302 and make the team!
