Everyone gets on DMA for having a “cupcake” schedule or a soft schedule. They play teams that they have to play: Charter School of Wilmington, Red Lion, Archmere, FSMA, & Conrad. That’s 5 game right there. They play Saint Elizabeth’s who is normally a playoff contender in D2. Then they added Hodgson this year who is a top 5 team in the state and only lost 14-8. They play Saint Mark’s who is a top 10 team in D2. They play Milford who is a top tier team in D2. They also play Newark who isn’t as good as they once were. There schedule this year is the hardest, but in all aspects certainly isn’t the easiest either.

I believe DMA's and Archmere's out of conference scheduling is fairly strong compared to other D-2 teams. I think there is an issue with a D-1 team handing out points like they were Halloween candy, to D-2 teams in the DSC. While I don't know the entire history of the Delaware point system, I suspect this is the first time a D-1 team has been part of a D-2 conference in football and it has caused a problem and an imbalance. I think that is where the issue lies.

See, that's just a weak conference, that can happen any year to any conference. Schedules are fluid and I believe the top two teams in DSC have challenged themselves out of conference. The issue comes down to the points, which may cost a team a playoff spot and becomes an issue of fairness at that point.

Part of what is wrong with a lot of comments in this forum. "They play Saint Elizabeth’s who is normally a playoff contender in D2."

St. E's hasn't been a playoff contender since 2012. Some things you have to face facts about and look beyond the surface. Unfortunately from them they are not in a conference with more quality teams but it is their downfall come playoffs, play a solid team and lose because most of the season they haven't gotten better because of the cakewalks. This year may be different because D2 is so open but they are still not as dominate as game scores and record appears.

Fair point, I see where you are coming from

It isn't even the cupcakes that it gives the better teams wins that I dislike about the DSC. The two biggest things are
1) Charter joins plays only D2 teams but gives all their opponents 6 pts. Like Ikeyfbst2 said fairness in the point system comes into play with that. Hope DIAA really looks into this going forward.
2) Looking from the outside it seems they forced FSMA into a varsity schedule when clearly they were not ready.

Cakewalk, cupcakes. A cakewalk sounds like fun, especially if some punch stations are included along the way. "Why, some of these schools have more cupcakes than an Eastern Connecticut baby shower!"...I don't know what that means either. I even had a disdainful, southern accent with it...go figure.

As it relates to this year, here's a few examples of cupcake schedules:

Friends (5-1) - Academy of New Church (1-7), Charter (2-5), Tatnall (0-7), St. Andrews (4-2), Morrisville (4-4) >>Combined 11-25 .305 win%

Conrad (6-1)- Christiana (1-6), FSMA (0-5), Red Lion (3-4), Tatnall (0-7), Charter(2-5), McKean (1-6) >>Combined 7-33 .175 win%

Tower Hill (6-1)- Perkiomen (4-2), Charter, Tatnall, Red Lion, George School (1-5), St. Andrews, Dickinson (FFT) >>Combined 15-30 .333 win%

Compare this to Lake Forest's schedule:
Friends (5-1), AI (6-1), Caravel (4-3), Delmar (6-1), Woodbridge (6-1) Milford (6-1) - All ranked opponents. >>Combined 33-7 .825 win% .....With Seaford and Laurel both battling to finish at .500

Caravel - Edmondson MD (7-1), St Marks (5-2), Sussex Central (6-1D1), Archmere (4-3), Howard MD (8-0), Glasgow (5-2) >>combined 35-9 .795 win%

Cup cakes
cupcake

NOUN

· 1. A small cake baked in a cup-shaped foil or paper container and typically iced.

· 2. US informal An attractive woman (often as a term of address).

2.1 A weak or effeminate man.

cupcake

when a girl wears her low-rider pants too tight, and her gut/sides roll over the edges like a cupcake. I think this is called a muffin top

Cup Caking

Talking sweet to someone you like.

Cup Caking means, boyfriend talking with girlfriend or vice - versa on the phone.

Not sure why YOU split the word into two parts? Hummmm

I agree with anyone saying St E is a contender. That ship has sailed until it gets right again with coaching.
Still believe they need to do like the New Castle County softball leagues run. Top teams play each other regardless how many kids are in school and every year the bottom 2 teams drop and the top two teams move up. At least it gives high quality games.
To make it better do a another playoff of champions.
Every conference in state has its top two/three teams and the rest are terrible. So not just DSC.
