Sussex Tech came out pretty strong. Seemed amped up. I’m used to seeing Tech having a sizable team, but they seemed a lot smaller this year. I don’t see where the hype is on them from a few people. However yes, I don’t think they crossed the end zone once, their 1s or 2s. I stopped counting touchdowns after the 4th. Techs QB and RB did a good job with what was in front of them.
Middletown struggled early on but seemed to have got the nerves out I guess and things started to clean up. Still need to work on things, the same weakness I mentioned weeks ago is still there.
Was going to head to Smyrna and Hodgson but decided against it, some dinner and Ice cold beer was shouting my name instead.

Stopped by Dover scrimmage their new quarterback looks a little shaky, especially when pressured. Peace is Peace and will do damage when he gets into open space. Can't wait until week two to see him vs Watkins.
Although I think Northeast HS didn't give the Senators a strong look, the Senators have some athletes. Their backup quarterback can really run! It will come down to the usually issues with them team cohesion, coaching, off field issues etc... but if they can overcome that I can see them making a deep run in the playoffs.

How did the new quarterback from Middletown Look? Are you saying Tech came out looking good but didn't score at all?
Middletown QB looked pretty good. He was rattled when pressured but that’s expected with a young QB, bright future though!
And yes Tech starters moved the ball well against Middletown starters got down to the 1 off a pass then hit with 2 back to back penalties and couldn’t get in. Starters only played one 10 play series.
Yeah Chill has the right assessment. When the line didn’t miss the block he threw well. Tech was Blitzing every snap. I think if MT gameplanned Tech wouldnt of had much success moving the ball. Cause once the DC made the adjustments Tech couldn’t do anything.

Smyrna looked a little better than Hodgson. Both gave up long plays. But Hod scored from poor tackling and Smy by big pass plays. One of Smyrna receivers will be one of the states best if stays healthy.
You must be a Smyrna parent/fan.
I was at the scrimmage and as far as the starters, Smyrna's offense didn't do anything except those 3tds on big passing plays (one which was set up by 2 personal fouls). Besides using the Earthquake a few times (for 2 or 3 yards) I don't think they moved the ball forward.
Hodgson moved the ball by passing and running the ball down the field and scored 3tds as well.
Looked to me like Smyrna scored their tds on poor tackling and blow coverage by Hodgson, and Hodgson scored because of their speed and Smyrna's lack of tackling.
So I guess they both have some things to work on.
I am both a parent and fan. But looking at it objectively, I thought Smyrna looked a little better. Both teams do have a lot to work on. Smyrna main qb was more accurate, but Hodgson had good run defense. After game, I came to this site to see Hodgson ranked pretty high in preseason lists. I know both teams have some kids missing due to injury. I can see how an equally objective observer might conclude that teams looked even.
3 big pass plays is part of scoring and offense being successful. Particularly Smyrna O. Just saying

I was actually there to see Smyrna with a buddy that did have a relative on Hodgson, but I wanted to see the DeBo kid and he certainly is well as advertised! I lost count of the tackles he made.

I live by CA and attend quite a few of their games during the season. I’m expecting them to make a run this year with a couple added additions.
