Big ups to Smyrna for their choice of the homecoming queen, great to see the student body support thinking outside the box. awesome gesture, very heart warming story. made me smile even though my young Riders got decimated in everyway possible lol

Think Smyrna has the consistently best homecomings in the state. Always well organized, the best floats, etc. Congrats to this young lady - the picture of her & her proud father is priceless. Did I recognize the King's name as the young man recovering from cancer?

You are correct! Colby Atkinson is the king. He still has issues regulating his own body temperature even though he is in remission. Colby was unable to stand on the field but his mom and brother represented him well. Alyssa is also a member of the dance team. She is a firecracker! We look forward to seeing her dance every week.
It's cool to remember that high school football encompasses more than just the game, it's about community and coming together. When I saw that picture this morning, I didn't wonder about the score or the stats, it was about that young lady and the smile that Smyrna bought to her face, well done. When I started this thread I was unaware of the hc king but I'm sure this meant so much to both of these amazing people. Kudos and long live the king & Queen
