You do know Smyrna gave up 32 points to Mount Pleasant last week at home??? For Smyrna to win I think they will have to score in the 60's and the game will have to be a shootout. Don't think they can do that against the WP defense. WP wins 42 - 28 imho.
Yep every game is different... Its all about the match-ups.. Even when the same two teams play each other again the game never repeats itself

Agreed @TRG it should be a good one. Contrasting styles colliding with almost perfect conditions. With the weather forecast being so good, I'm thinking it could be an even higher scoring game. Still sticking with WP by 2 scores. We'll find out soon...
Smyrna by around 10 points or so... Too explosive for Penn to keep up with. Give the coaching edge the Smyrna too.
Believe my prediction was dead on.. I gave them a double digit win... Coaching the difference.. Pretty clear.
why don't you petition DIAA and get them to just crown Smyrna champs right now .

Not only that the Slowskys are playing a 10th grader at QB. How many snaps has he had? Looks like a long night for the Slowskys.
Coach Joe really we get it... You love Coach Judy...Maybe give the players just some credit.

I saw the first Slowsky - Eagle game.
Like Penn today the Slowskys jumped off to a quick 1st Q lead. Then Smyrna outplayed them the rest of the way. Slowskys have pourous pass defense. The game was a track meet.

They don't have to be. They're the two best in Delaware now - that's relevant, Who cares where they rank over the past ten - that's irrelevant.

Coach Joe. Both coaches have done a great job at their respected schools this year. No question about that. Obviously Di Nardo has the history and results to prove that. My question is. Where has Smyrna's staff been the past 5 years? What have they accomplished? They should be good the next couple of years while this class of players play. Great coaches make the best of what they have to work with. Getting gifted athletes certainly helps that's a no brainer. before anointing anybody great, let's see what happens for 5 to 7 years for Smyrna. Lets just say that Smyrna is fortunate to have Coach Judy and his staff along with the seemingly exceptional athletes to work with. DiNardo has been fortunate to have exceptional players to coach while at Middletown and the endless supply at Sallies. And has done an excellent job of coaching and running those programs for numerous years. A proven resume. No matter who wins sat. both schools have earned respect throughout the state. You have to play to win........
A rare game where the game turned due to an injury. If Henderson did not go down, I truly believe Penn would have won the game. Why? they practiced all week against Henderson and it was working. It was clever of the Smyrna coach not to fully show his hand by putting in the reserve QB after the injury timeout. The second half was all Knight at Wildcat and Penn was simply unprepared. This year, Penn was seen by many as undisciplined and the stats yesterday showed it. Fifteen penalties, many that kept Smyrna drives going and negated a Penn TD. Bottom line : Smyrna had a Plan B and Penn never prepared for it. Celebrating too soon will do that.
You have to play to win.....and they did. That is where Coach Judy deserves credit. He chose to play Salesianum during the regular season. That was bold in his second year. Sure, other coaches do it but he did it early in his career when he knew the Sals would be solid.
What does he have going into this game? Neutral field, revenge factor, talent.....and the Slowskys playing their JV QB. I make Smyrna a 20 point favorite.
Hey I was wrong. Wasn't the first time and surely won't be the last. I've been a Smyrna fan all season long. Just didn't think they had the horses to beat WP. They did and won in convincing fashion. I still don't agree that WP got out coached though. When Smyrna went to the "Wildcat" with Knight, WP stacked the box. I don't know what others saw, but WP singled up on the only receiver and everyone else was within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage. Some times players do win/lose games... it's not always the coaching. Much respect for coach Judy, coach Dooley and both of their staffs. It was a great game to watch.

I have no problem admitting I was wrong @TRG. Heck I told my son there at the end if Smyrna doesn't get this last 2 pointer that I would have at least been half right. lol I had them scoring 28. I just had WP scoring a whole lot more than they did... Now the big question??? What were you thinking down 13-0 and Henderson going down??? Be honest @TRG. haha
Haha oh I wrote Smyrna off when that happened ! lol That's big for a group of kids to not hang their heads right there. That O line played a heck of game.
I think everyone in the stadium did at that point. I wonder if the WP players did too??? Once Smyrna got the momentum they just kept rolling. Very impressed with their resolve. The Smyrna fans were great too. They did an awesome job of keeping that team pumped up. At least you were honest... lol
Very possible, and I agree, very impressed with the change of game plan there. Line up and run the football. A passing team all year flipped the script a little and ran the football very well against a good defense. If they can stop reeder I really like there chances. Should be a fun game to watch!
