After reading some of the posts complaining about the DIAA, I want everyone to understand the root cause of the problem of sports here in Delaware. The DIAA is a governing body whose board members are either administrators or nominated by a schools administration.

The DIAA just completed a survey about coaching out of season that covers a lot of topics that most of us here complain about. If you have a chance read it:

DIAA Out of Season Coaching Survey Results

In reading the survey and the responses most coaches and AD’s understand the disadvantages Delaware athletes face. What's holding us back is the School and District Level Administrators who the majority are non-athletic and non-sports mined people that never played competitive sports or just want to support the bare minimum for whatever reason; budgetary, lack of knowledge or just a general disregard for sports over academia. I wonder what the percentage of District Superintendents or administrators actual played competitive sports?

This not saying that all coaches in Delaware are not lazy or on board or even that not all school's Administers don't support athletics but the majority of Administrators are non-sports minded educators that could care less about athletics and that’s the real problem!

Gospel truth. In my travels in this high school sports thing, first as a student, then as a media member, you can tell that the principal/VPs/superintendents by and large really aren't on board with sports being an important part of their school communities and it shows.
