Really Good list
1. Do lose their entire Dline but their the champs until someone can beat them
2. St. Marks does lose a lot of key players but i think they will be competitive
3. Always struggle in the beginning of the year and then pick it up
4. Delmar loses their QB RB and WR three extremely key players on their team they may struggle
5. Milford still has bowman but loses Covington
6. Glasgow will be good unless their QB "transfers
7. Friends will win SPL but they lose a lot of talent
8. DMA has number 1 but loses their QB and their big Hoss #4
9. Returning Cropper and their QB should be fine
10. No idea whats going down at Lake

AI and Mt Pleasant should be competitive D2 squads(if guys dont transfer out due to being dropped to D2)

@RR
That's exactly what I'm hearing ... kids are going to leave / transfer . Some of the top D1 teams are getting better

god who cares...3-4 Div II teams at most that are worth a darn. Hell there arent that many teams in Div I that are worth watching. Would rather watch paint dry than watch two middle of the pack Div II teams play.

Only know about teams in the South, but....

Woodbridge loses a lot on both lines of scrimmage. Plus Riddick and Holden at RB/DB. Those could be big blows, but as someone said they still return Kane (Beast) and their QB comes back.

Delmar loses Adkins at QB who pretty much was their do everything player! Could be a big loss, just because of leadership and experience running that offense. I think they also lose a RB, but they have #34 returning who was a solid RB/LB.

Milford loses a lot on both lines of scrimmage just like Woodbridge. As well as QB and both WR. They do have Bowman and Price coming back, so could be dangerous if they find some blocking up front.

Lake was very young this past year after losing a BUNCH of seniors from 2016. They still lose a few this year, but will be young once again. Not sure they crack the top 10 next year after only winning 2 games.

Parker and Dennard will be impact players for Delmar next year. They had some young kids play and contribute and you know they'll be well coached.

Milford is definitely losing a lot but a healthy Price and Bowman will be a major plus.

Woodbridge is losing a good number of lineman which will hurt. I do know they had sophomores and juniors all over the field though, so I'd imagine they'll be just as athletic as ever.

I think they both make the playoffs next year, if the guys that are supposed to come back are indeed back.

I'll take a shot at this, just on first glance of the underclassmen from last year's teams:

1. Woodbridge
2. Howard (early state title favorite)
3. St. Mark's
4. Laurel (Ennis is changing the culture and once he gets more of his players in, look out)
5. Milford
6. Glasgow (provided Wilson returns)
7. Delmar
8. St. E's
9. Mount
10. A.I.

So the team you think will win the title is not your #1 team??

Yeah, how in the world can your #2 team be the favorite to win it? Does #1 team not exist or something lol.

I'm a firm believer in the champion is the champ until someone beats them. Woodbridge is the champ, so they deserve the mythical Christmas holiday #1 spot.

While Woodbridge should still be very good, I wouldn't put them in the top spot. QB, running back, receiver, LB positions all solid still but lots of losses on the line in addition to those seniors being very strong team leaders.

Pains me to say it, but I think Laurel could have a really strong 2017.

I understand where you are coming from but I view it differently the 2016 champ is the 2016 champ. 2017 all teams return with a clean slate especially in HS with so much turnover year to year..

I don't even subscribe to that in the pros anymore.. I used to before free agency when teams did build dynasty's JMHO

10. A.I. Dupont
I don't see Glasgow or Lake Forest in the top 10.

Any word on whether their QB moved to smyrna?

No word as of yet. I would think he would want to get there soon. The playbook of Smyrnas isn't something you can just pick up with ease. I would assume he'd transfer by now (if he was) and get in the weight room with the team and participate in their off season program to get on same page with the rest of the players and coaches.

I also expect Tatnall to end up in the top 10 at some point. They've been quietly building that program up over there. They finished 7-3 and the lost to Conrad is what prevented them from making the playoffs.

What are the rules? I thought your couldn't change schools unless a parent lived in the district and you had to sit out from sports like 3 months or something....but my info may be very dated

I believe you just have to fill out a waiver form and the DIAA board has to approve you.

It's my understanding that it's school choice now so as long as they are enrolled before the start of the following school year and accepted they should be fine.

Unless school choice was only ruled for Appo school district

You only get one free transfer after your freshman year.(If you transfer mid Freshman year that counts as your freebie) After that you either have to move to a different school district(it doesn't matter which one as there is school choice) or you have to get a hardship waiver. Other than that you sit a year.

Here is an example. A wrestler from Smyrna transferred to Caravel after his Freshman year. Right after wrestling season decided he didn't like Caravel and went back to his local public Smyrna. This wrestler was denied a waiver and is sitting out wrestling this year.

It's a bit more involved than that Your AD has to request a waiver hearing. At that hearing you have to prove a hardship. If transferring from private to public usually its a financial hardship claim.. If you move residence a hearing is not required AD just sends in the info and DIAA vettes the move

Tatnall will win the Independent, Howard will win Flight B, and DMA will win the Diamond State.....as a matter of fact DMA will win it EVERY YEAR
I don't know, Wilmington Christian can put up quite a fight.

I wonder if some of the good D1 schools could play their JV teams on Friday nights against some of the Division 2 "powers". I bet Middletowns JV could beat most of the D2 varsity squads

IF? OK, IF Milford JV played Sallies varsity, they would win by 40/ Wanna bet?
