They were young by Sallies tradition. Stacked freshman team from two years ago who got play on varsity last year and did very well. who will be Juniors along with the SR RB transfer from last year.. They are good bet to challenge for the ship IMO

That's the MIAA model. Freshman play together as a team and dont play JV or Varsity. Then jump from from the freshman team to varsity with a few key transfers in the mix

Pretty much all that needs to be said. If Billy D opens that offensive playbook a tanch, this might be one of the great Sallies teams of my lifetime (note: I've only been watching Delaware High School Football since 1992, so take that for what it's worth. Lol)

I was just asking a question. I watched them in person once last year and just didn't come away impressed. The offense was very perdictable. The defense was good and they tackled well. I just didn't walk away after watching them like I did Smyrna a couple years ago before they won their 3 in a row. You could watch them and it was just different. You could tell they were going to give people fits. JMO.

The Sals had solid sophomore talent...and some nice juniors. I think they will be one of the most talented teams next year but that doesn't mean a damn thing.
Also, if proud only saw the Sals play in the title game, I understand how he feels.

(...but don't underestimate how well SC played that day. They would have beaten anybody they faced..)

SC defense played ridiculously good last year.. They would make any teams O look just ok...but I agree with the other poster "if" Sals can get some sort of passing threat going and take some of the eyes off Watkins then they will walk with it.. JMHO

Don't get me wrong I watched some 302 footage on Youtube before the Championship game. I saw them play Hodgson and Middletown. I wasn't there in person. I understand Centrals defense was good. I'm saying when I watched Sallies play it just didn't blow me away and think to myself how good these guys are going to be the next couple years. I understand the running back is really good. The offense just seemed very vanilla to me. JMO.

If you had seen Salesianum play every game in the regular season you would concluded that they were green and had some potential.

It is possible that Hodgson cut Middletown's heart out the last game of the season and the Sals were the benefactor's in the first round of the playoff.

In the second round, Hodgson may run the Sals out on a dry field (Caravel) but decided to play at their own place. Then SC was a total bonus. If the Sals played their best game of the year...SC still wins by like 21-7.

So maybe we actually agree.

DiNardo has won 3 titles at Middletown and 4 on Broom Street with that offense. They may throw a little more-- based on talent --but the basis ain't changing.

I understand what you are saying. I've watched Central run the same offense for 20+ years. They ain't changing under Wells. The faces change. The numbers change. The talent is up and down but the system is the system. Like it or not.
