Appo beat Middletown but lost to St. George’s so how does that Flight A scenario play out?

Thanks for doing all this math. The winner of the Brandywine-A.I. game, however, is not guaranteed a spot in the tournament. They would have to finish in the top half of eligible teams. There are 54 eligible teams, so the winner, obviously, would have to finish 27 or better in the points index.

St. Georges is undefeated in Flight A. Middletown and Concord currently have 2 conference losses, and Appo and Delcastle have 3. By my math, St. Georges has already clinched Flight A since they have just the one conference game left (on Tuesday vs. Middletown). Appo is also in danger of finishing under .500, which would make them ineligible for the auto bid, but that is moot.

According to DIAA manual, if the conference does not have a method for breaking ties, it goes to the DIAA point index, then DIAA tiebreakers.
 
I wonder if WCS can yet again ride their late-season improvement into the tournament. They lost by 24 to Friends, then turned it around and won by 5 in the second matchup. All of their remaining games are winnable, at least in theory.

This is correct. Middletown lost to Appo last night, giving them their second Flight A lost, so yep, St. Georges has already wrapped up Flight A. Now if neither AI or Brandywine's indexes hit the top 27...do they still play the BHC title game?

I think the conference title game is something the kids really look forward to. It's also something they like to put on the banners in the gym.

Then they forfeited two games that I would imagine they could have one between Freire Charter and MOT Charter.

Yeah, that definitely hurt them. The wild part is Indian River's schedule is going to be a point of consternation because they'll finish 8-12 but since they loaded up on ESIAC schools, they'll take a spot from at least one or two teams.

I think all conference champs should have an Auto bid. Then point them out to figure their seeding. If A.I gets miffed, DIAA should reconsider having conferences.

Indian River is now 6-12 after losing to now 6-12 St. Andrew's in their only trip to New Castle County. Their wins (except for an upset of Laurel) have come against 1-18 Delmar (twice), 5-14 Early College, and 4-16 Sussex Academy (twice). They have a game with ECHS that has no result. The fact that they're not just in, but solidly in, is baffling.
And they're going to lose to Sussex Central tomorrow, so they'll finish 6-13 or 7-13.

The rules about the auto bid have been decided by DIAA's member schools, of which A.I. is one. They are free to approach their fellow DIAA members to propose changes, which would then be debated and voted on.

Conferences aren't going anywhere, for scheduling and other reasons.

Demarva Christian should not be allowed to play in tournament.. Played 14 games against scrub teams MD.. DIAA need change rules.. You must be required to play at least 10 games in State of DE to be eligible for tourney.. Crazy play 14 games in MD and only 6 in DE..

That's DIAA's call of course, but while DCS gets a bye and a tournament spot, are they going very far? Probably not.

2 points for each win, 1 bonus point for an opponent with a .501 or better win percentage, 2 points for an opponent with .701 win percentage and yes, if an opponent is played twice, the points count twice as well. Divide the total number of points by total of games played to get the point index.

I did a little research at it appears that Seaford lost to ND - which makes them 10-10 (which is important to anyone who played them).

How did you find records for the Canadian team that St E and Conrad played at DSC?

Well that changes everything (why these coaches don't use W4S consistently is beyond me)

SSF, I just guesstimated they're worth a point.

The reason DCS and St. Thomas More went to the ESIAC is so they wouldn't be forced to scramble every year to put together a schedule in all sports. The DIAA is made up of member schools, so if the other schools believe the rule should be changed, they are free to propose such a change and see if it gains any traction.

Unlike a place like Caravel, which is surrounded by scheduling options that aren't a 90-minute drive away, Delmarva Christian can't really put together a totally nonconference schedule. Would the Henlopen Conference consider adding DCS in the sports the school offers?

SSF's record remains a mystery. They didn't look anything like a plus-.500 team at the Diamond State, but my guess is their regular competition in Quebec is not nearly as strong as what they saw here. They did have cool uniforms, however.

Friends needs a win over Red Lion and Tower Hill to beat Charter to leapfrog Caravel, Brandywine and Seaford.

If Padua beats Woodbridge, they move to the 5 spot and Woodbridge goes down to 6.

Ursuline's in regardless, but a win over St. Georges and Charter losing to Tower would push them from a road game (19 seed) to the last home game slot (16.)

Padua beats Woodbridge 59-44. Pandas actually move ahead of St. E by .05 for the 5th seed. Woodbridge falls from 6th to 8th (CR has SOS tiebreaker)
