Charter 1-7 (0-6 Flight A) at AI DuPont 3-5 (2-4 Flight A)

This might not be a marquee matchup but for these 2 teams it is a rivalry game. The Force have struggled this year under 1st year coach Larry Cylc. Since opening the season with a 22-14 win against Howard, Charter has dropped their last 7 games. RB/S Robert Johnston leads the Force with 6 TD's on the season. The Charter defense has really struggled this season allowing 39 points per game and allowing at least 40 or more points in 5 of their 8 games. With only 6 seniors on the roster maybe the future is bright for Charter. AI DuPont has scored 34 points in back to back games but lost both games. They lost 46-34 last week at Concord and 56-34 the previous week to Middletown. Over the last 3 games QB Freddie Heard has accounted for 9 TD's. Heard has passed for 7 TD's and rushed for 2 in that 3 game span against Newark, Middletown and Concord. RB Anthony Christopher and WR Quadree Henderson have combined for 6 scores over that same 3 game span. The Tigers main problem has come on defense allowing 37 points per game including 4 games of 40 or more. The Tigers still have a chance to finish with an even record at 5-5 and have too much offense for the Force.

AI DuPont 46 Charter 20

Middletown 7-1 (6-1 Flight A) at Newark 6-2 (5-1 Flight A)

Newark is in need of more wins to make the playoffs and nothing would be sweeter for them to defeat rival Middletown to get them closer to their goal of qualifying for the DI playoffs. Newark is led by QB Ben Campbell and when he is on Newark is hard to beat. Newark needs their defense to play well in order to win. They will need to stop a Middletown team that does a great job at running the football. The Newark defense is allowing 24 points per game and has allowed over 50 points twice including last week to Hodgson. Hodgson defeated Newark 50-20 last week. Middletown continues to have a great season with their only loss a 21-7 setback to William Penn. The combination of Lasanna Brew and Frank Datillo in the backfield has accounted for 12 TD's over the last 2 weeks. The Middletown defense notched a shutout last week when they defeated Appo 42-0 and it was a much better effort defensively than the previous week when they allowed AI to score 34 points. Newark must rebound from a huge loss last week and it looks like Middletown is back on track after losing to William Penn. I don't see Middletown letting up in this one. Cavs win. Newark hasn't beaten Middletown since the 2011 regular season 27-14. That same year Middletown defeated Newark in the State Championship game 27-23.

Middletown 33 Newark 19

DMA 5-3 at Archmere 5-3

Another game with huge playoff implications is DMA at Archmere. Both teams are coming off of losses. DMA was soundly beat by Salesianum last week 42-0 and Archmere lost at Lake Forest 35-14. Archmere trailed Lake Forest 14-7 entering the 4th quarter last week but was outscored 21-7 in the final quarter at Lake Forest. A couple big plays doomed Archmere in the loss. Lake returned an interception 90 yards for a TD and had a 73 yard run for a TD in the final quarter. QB Chris Dewees tossed a 16 yard TD pass to Colin Duffy and Pat Udovich scored on a 1 yard TD run for Archmere. DMA caught Salesianum at possibly the worst time possible, playing them after losing to arch rival St. Mark's. DMA has had 9 different players score this season in their balanced offensive system. The DMA defense has recorded 3 shutouts this season and besides allowing St. Mark's to score 35 points and Sallies to get 42 points they have been very good this season. DMA has allowed 14 points per game this season. DMA is winless in their history against Archmere losing all 5 times they have played. Last year Archmere defeated DMA 14-7. The last 2 years this game has been very close. I expect much the same this year. Auks in a tight one.

Archmere 21 DMA 17

Glasgow 3-5 (2-4 Flight A) at William Penn 8-0 (6-0 Flight A)

Glasgow has won 2 out of their last 3 games and they only lost to DII power Caravel 23-18 in that stretch. Yes, the wins are against Charter and Delcastle but the Dragons are playing much better football right now than earlier in the season. Last week against Delcastle Lammott Brown rushed for 204 yards and 3 TD's and Tyrique Woodland added 123 yards and 2 TD's as the Dragons knocked off Delcastle 34-16. It was the most points scored in a game this season for Glasgow. William Penn cruised past Charter last week without the services of Reggie Carroll 42-16. Marvell Watts scored 4 TD's for William Penn in the victory. Glasgow is improving but William Penn is on another level. Not sure what the status of Carroll is but either way the Colonials will prevail. William Penn won last year's game 26-14.

William Penn 40 Glasgow 14

St. Georges 8-0 at Caravel 6-2 *****Game of the week*****

In what could be a preview of the DII State Championship game St. Georges will take on Caravel at Caravel on Saturday night. St. Georges has already wrapped up the Flight B title and an automatic bid into the playoffs. St. Georges has been explosive on offense this season averaging 43 points per game and scoring in the 50's 3 times. The Hawks have many different weapons on offense. The main weapon is RB Taronn Selby who has 16 TD's on the season, two of which have come on kickoff returns. Keyjuan Selby has 7 TD's including an interception return for a TD. Sophomore RB Gary Brightwell has 9 TD's and QB Tordell Kemp has thrown 7 TD passes this season. The St. Georges defense is allowing 14 points per game this season and they are very good at forcing turnovers. The Hawks defense has 3 defensive scores and a safety this year. Caravel is 6-2 and is riding a 4 game win streak coming into this game. The Bucs have played a very tough schedule this season and their 2 losses have come against very good out of state competition losing to Archbishop Curley (MD) and Interboro (PA). They have defeated all 4 in state teams that they have played; that include Hodgson, Archmere, St. Elizabeth and Glasgow. Last week the Bucs defeated Silver Oak (MD) 17-6. Dennis Robinson rushed for 90 yards and 2 TD's last week and Darnell Savage had 71 yards rushing for the Bucs. Jake Shriner had 65 yards rushing in the victory. The Caravel defense is allowing 17 points per game this season with most of the damage coming in their 2 losses. They allowed 34 points to Archbishop Curley and 35 points to Interboro. No in state team has scored more than 18 points on the Bucs defense. Caravel has faced better competition than St. Georges and I think that will help the Bucs a bit. St. Georges really hasn't been tested in the last 2 weeks and the Hawks opponents are a combined 27-37 this season. If Caravel can limit the Selby twins and not allow St. Georges to score on special teams or defense they could pull the upset in this one. Last season St. Georges defeated Caravel 27-23 in a game that the Bucs led 23-7 heading into the 4th quarter. Taronn Selby had a huge game for St. Georges last season, scoring 3 times and rushing for 113 yards. He also had 74 yards receiving in the victory. Caravel pulls the upset in this one.
