Goldey-Beacom Picked Eighth in CACC Softball Pre-Season Coaches Poll

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team was picked to finish eighth in the 2005 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference pre-season coaches poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.



The Lightning garnered 88 total points following a 16-23 season which saw them post an 8-12 mark in conference play. Caldwell College received 10 of a possible 11 first-place votes and finished with a total of 14 points while Georgian Court College, which received the other first-place vote, was picked third with 37 points.



Holy Family University earned 29 points to place second in the poll, followed by Post University in fourth place (48 points), Dominican College (59 points), Wilmington College (63 points), Felician College (80 points), Goldey-Beacom, Nyack College (99 points), Bloomfield College (105 points), and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (106 points).



The Lightning will be led by the senior trio of Devon O’Brien (Wilmington, DE), Tiffany Frick (Pennsauken, NJ) and Holly Kimble (Georgetown, DE). O’Brien hit .256 with 14 runs scored last season while Kimble finished second on the squad with a .299 average and 16 RBI and Frick tied for the staff lead with eight wins.



The Lightning open the 2005 season on March 10 when they travel to South Carolina for a tournament that will last through March 13.
