IMG Academy

IMG won but not by the RC as you would have expected. IMG is a little down this year but that is like saying Alabama is a little down this year. Instead of ranked 1 or 2 maybe 7 or 8. Calpreps currently has IMG #5 even with the loss to Miami Central who is currently #4

In other upcoming OOS opponent news

Malvern Prep beat previously unbeaten Roman Catholic 10-0 to move to 4-0. They have a bye week in preparation for their OOS showdown with Delaware power Delaware Military Academy. MP is #2 in PA and #116 Nationally (Calpreps)

Massillon Tigers beat 5-0 Austintown-Fitch 49-28 in a tune up game for next weeks tilt with Delaware dynasty power Middletown High. Massillon is #5 in Ohio and #54 Nationally (Calpreps)

How is the national ranking determined for high school?

There are a few ranking sites. None is really considered official or anything. That is why they call it a MNC (Mythical National Championship) if one of them has you ranked at the top in the end. NFHS does not recognize any National Championship for high school sports. They (NFHS) frowns upon the idea and afraid it breeds well.. what it does breed cheating, recruiting and shysters looking to make a buck off it.

The oldest one and probably the one most people that don't really follow HS football nationally would know is the USA Today poll.

This guy does a top 25 compilation of the 6 most known ranking sites/publications. 3 of them are computer algorithms ( Calpreps, High School Football America, Massey Ratings) and 3 are human ( MaxPreps Excellent25, SBLive, USA Today)

Hasn't been updated for this week yet

MaxPreps has 2 rankings/ratings. Their human Excellent 25 and then the computer which is a download of the Calpreps ratings. So no need to list the latter twice in the compilation.

Calpreps/MaxPreps is the easiest to navigate as far and digging into the states as every team in the country is rated.

So really it is who you are the most confident in as far as their ability to rank teams. I look at Calpreps to dig into past the top 50 and Maxpreps for looking at schedules and the different states setups. As far as which one is correct well its all subjective so I like the compilation to look at for tops in the nation stuff
