Conrad and Cape have never met that I’m aware, at least not here in the recent future.

Cape was virtually untested in the first round against Tower Hill. Cape dropped 2 in the first inning, then a six spot in the third to coast to a 10-0 mercy run win in 6 innings with the help of the masterful pitching of Erickson who went 5 innings and only allowed 1 hit, striking out 10. But Cape has certainly drawn the short straw here after an easy game in the first round. This has more of the feel of a championship game in my opinion. These are two of the best teams in the state both on the mound and at the plate. Its sad that one of these two teams with not be in the Semis or finals.

Conrad beat Poly in the first round of the playoffs 10-4, but needed a 10 run 6th inning to do it. Poly was basically run down on pitchers after using up their starting pitching in the extra inning win over Delmar hours before. Whitaker pitched a great game as Poly was up 1-0 going into the infamous bottom of the sixth.

Are we thinking its Maxwell against Elliott? Ive been enjoying watching Conrad play this year, but I think Cape is setup well for this game. This should be the game of the day.

Cape had a tough start to the season, but ended the season winning 6 of the last 7 games, with 4 straight wins, now 5 with their playoff win. They have only allowed 9 runs in the last 8 games and scored 47 runs. They seem to be hitting their stride with pitching and hitting. Cape was 6-6 against playoff teams this year. This well be Cape’s 10th post season tourney and they are 7-9 in post season games. This is Cape’s 3rd straight post season and in 2015 made it to the championship, losing to Appo. Cape is scoring over 6 runs per game this year and allowing under 3 runs per game. But in the last 16 games, Cape has only allowed 30 total runs. Cape is very deep with its pitching. They have Erickson, Elliott and Gelof, but Erickson just pitched. At the plate they have the second most amount of Homers in the state with 9, lead by Dale and Elliot who have 3 each, while Gelof just hit 1 HR in each of the last two regular season games.

Conrad had an amazing season. 15 straight wins to start the season but they did falter a little at the end losing 2 of the final three regular season games. In 2010 Conrad started up playing varsity baseball. They were 1-16 that season. In 2011 they jumped to 7 wins that season. In 2012 they won 14 games. Conrad made the playoffs in 2014 for the first time since 1976. Last year they got a 1-0 win over Poly in the playoffs. Before losing 10-9 to CarAvel in the quarter finals in 9 innings. This year Conrad was 10-1 against other playoff teams. They beat Sallies, DMA twice, NC twice, Arch twice, Mtown, St Marks and just recently Polytech, while losing to St George's.

Conrad is scoring 7 runs per game this year and allowing less than 2 runs per game (fewest in the state). Conrad is led on the mound by Ryan Bradigan (8-0 most wins in the state) and Kyle Maxwell (6-1) with Nowell closing things a lot of times. Bradigan pitched 5 great innings on Saturday, so we most likely won’t see him. Maxwell pitched one and got the win, so it will probably be Maxwell against Cape.

Thought Bradigan came out with less than 80 and could pitch. Would bet Maxwell starts but would not be surprised to see Bradigan pitch if needed.
