St Marks and Appo have developed quite the rivalry in Appo’s short existence. They have played each other 8 times with St Marks winning 5, but Appo has won the last three games. Even more interesting is that the last three games were all 1-run wins by Appo. In fact, 4 of the last 8 meetings were 1-run games (two extra inning games) and another two games were 2-run games. So suffice to say, these two play some great games!!!!

Appo and St Marks have played twice in the post season, with St Marks winning in 2013 to go on to win their title and Appo winning in 2015, to go on and win their title.

Appo and St Marks played in the 2017 regular season. Both teams scored in the third inning, Appo 2, St Marks 1 and that was the final score. Both Steckline and Sullivan were dealing in that game, Steck had 9ks, while Sulliven had 6 and pitched a complete game.

St Marks started the first round against St Georges. Their ace, Sullivan, started and ending up pitching a complete game. St Georges was able to start strong against Sullivan, scoring two in the first inning. But Sullivan shut St G down the rest of the game, not allowing another run. St Marks went on to score 6 and win 6-2.

Appo had their first round game rained out on Saturday, to play on Sunday against DMA. Steckline started and pitched 3 innings, but threw 93 pitches. Appo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. But DMA struck back in the 4th inning with 2 runs. Garrett came in to pitch and shut things down not allowing any more runs. Appo scored 3 in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead back for good.

St Marks pitched Sullivan all 7 innings, so he won’t be available but Ludman will most likely take the mound. Appo had Steckline and Garrett each throw 3+ innings, so I’m not sure of how they will be used. But Stamper is 4-0 beating St Georges this year and Ruhl is 3-0 in relief.

After going 13-1, Appo finished the regular season 2-2 losing to Newark and Cape. Let down game against Newark maybe, but Cape was getting very hot. Appo didn't look as sharp though after losing to Mtown in my opinion. Their schedule got lighter but they weren't as good. Steckline is their ace and he finished 3-3 on the season. Garrett was 5-0, Stamper was 4-0 and Ruhl was 3-0. Appo is deep on the mound. They have allowed less than 3 runs per game and score just about 7 per game. Appo is 9-2 against playoff teams this year only losing to Mtown and Cape.

Since Appo came into existence in 2010, their record 79-47. They have had only 1 losing season in 8 years, going 7-11 in 2012. In 8 seasons, they have been to the tourney 5 times already, with a record of 9-3. They won the championship in 2015 and lost in the championship in 2011.

St Marks has had one if its worst seasons in 15 years. Yes, a 12 win season is pretty bad for St Marks. In 2013 they only won 11 (FYI they still won the championship that year) and in 2006 they only won 10 (god forbid). Before we speak of their demise, St Marks has played 14 games against the other playoff teams, going 8-6. And lets talk about post season play for St Marks….St Marks has played in 36 of the 48 state tourneys since 1970. They have played in 107 post season games, emassing a record of 86-21. They have played in 20 championship games, winning 14 TITLES (next best is Sallies and Newark with 6 titles). This season St Marks has been in a lot of tight games. 13 of their games were final scores of 3-runs or less (8 of those were 1-run games). Their hitting has been lite this year though, only scoring 4 runs per game on average. But on defense they have been pretty stellar. They have only allowed 40 total runs, that’s barely 2 runs per game on average. And in only 2 games this season, have they allowed more than 3 runs. That’s pretty awesome. Ludman and Sullivan are very good and have kept them in games.

St Marks up 2-0, warrington hit a double with bases loaded, ruhl comes in to pitch for Appo

After watching this game, Stamper is by far the most underrated pitcher in the state of Delaware. I've never watched a game pitched that well in my life. Where has he been all year?

Come on man....Don't leave us hangin....whats' the final score????

Boy Appo and St Marks have a nice little rivalry going. They play some great games against each other.
