Games of Interest....

#3 Caravel (3-0) @ #2 St Marks (5-0). A rematch of last years semi final game where Caravel won 6-1. In fact Caravel won both their meetings last year. Over the last 9 years they have faced each other 14 times both winning 7 games each with St Marks outscoring Caravel 55-54. St Marks has only allowed 8 runs total in 5 games to (DMA, ST E, Arch, Appo, IR) with five different starters. For Caravel Silan has got the win in all three games they played this year. He last pitched Friday with only 41 pitches thrown.

#7 St G (4-0) @ #4 Mtown (3-1). St G has started 4-0 but this will be its first real test of the season. Mtown won its first three games but lost a close one to #1 Cape most recently. Last year Mtown won a 18-10 but St G had beaten Mtown the previous 4 seasons ….2016 (5-3); 2015 (14-2);2014 (11-1); and 2013 (4-3)

DMA (2-3) @ Tower Hill (1-2). DMA is looking for its 3rd straight win to get back to par on the season.

Concord (3-2) @ #5 Appo (3-1). Concord has won 3 straight including two straight games being down big. Friends had them down 10-2 and Concord came back to win 13-11 while A.I. had Concord down 9-3 before Concord came back to win 15-11. Appo started 3-0 but got beat by St Marks 4-1 in their last game.

Archmere (2-2) @ Conrad (3-1). Archmere has started off slow barely beating Concord 5-4, then getting blown out by St Marks (9-1) and DMA 17-3. Then on Friday they had to score late to beat Tower Hill. Conrad lost their first game to Appo, then have won three straight against Charter, DMA & Glasgow. Conrad hasn’t played in a week. Last year Conrad won an extra innings pitchers duel.

First State Military Academy (1-1) @ RLCA (3-0). Red Lion goes for 4-0 against newbie FSMA before its big test in Mtown on Thursday.

Hodgson (5-0) @ Wm Penn (1-2). Penn is coming off a big win vs Glasgow last week winning 13-2. Penn lost close ones to Tech and St G in its first two games. Hodgson is looking to start 6-0 before it plays Poly, St Marks and Caravel over a six day period.

#8 Central (4-0) @ CR (5-1). Central has started off 4-0 but only won its last two by a run. CR has been on fire. Arguably their competition hasn’t been the best only playing one team in the top 20 (Hodgson losing 12-11). But they have scored 85 runs in their first six games….granted they scored 27 against FSMA, but they have scored in double digits in 5 of their first 6 games. Despite the weird Hodgson game, they have only allowed 5 total runs its other 5 games. CR has won their last two matchups by a single run.

Smyrna (2-1) @ #1 Cape (5-0). Smyrna started the year off with a walkoff over Delmar , a tie with Tech, getting trashed by Poly 17-4 and a solid win over IR. Cape has been rolling along at 5-0 with wins over Tech and Mtown. Cape stumbled a little against Milford allowing a 7th inning grand slam to Milford then needing a TWO homers in the bottom of the 7th to beat Milford 8-7. Cape will be tested in its next 4 games for sure with Smyrna, Central on Thursday, Appo on Saturday…then a week offuntil Sallies. Smyrna beat Cape last year in a 12 inning, two different day affair.

Poly (1-3) @ Dover (3-1). Poly is in a bad spot. They started off 1-3 and play Dover and Hodgson this week. Poly let a 4-0 lead slip away in the opener against IR to lose 8-4. Got shutout by Delmar 6-0. Responded with 17-4 spanking of Smyrna, then let a comeback slip away to St G 7-6 in 9 innings. Now they have been off for a week…and with Hodgson on Thursday they need to win. Dover is 3-1 but hasn’t been all that impressive with a 1 run win over Lake, a 7-2 win over Laurel.

#3 Caravel (3-0) @ #2 St Marks (5-0). Over the last 9 years they have faced each other 14 times both winning 7 games each with St Marks outscoring Caravel 55-54.
That's same damned interesting data Oldskool!

Not for nothing but on GameChanger Caravel’s Silan went 106 pitches today. I thought it was 85 limit thru first 5 games. Isn’t this only their 4th game? Is GC off or am I wrong on rule ?

Thanks

As soon as one team in the state plays their sixth game or after a certain date the limit goes to 105. Not sure of the date but this was St. Mark’s sixth game.

April 5.is date it has to be after And CR played 6 games so everyone in state can use the 105 pitch limit

It is the most runs scored...

only twice in the past 10 years has the total runs in one game been over 10...in 2012 St Marks won 9-5 and in 2011 Caravel won 8-3

Pretty sure that's the most runs scored in a Caravel vs St. Mark's game in at least 10 years... maybe ever. The WebSites4Sports boxscore says 9 errors.

Yeah I watched @Patcomic, video of the game, Caravels ss had a tough game but I’m sure he’ll learn from that game. Really impressed with all the HRS early in the season, thick air at sea level. When and if the weather gets warmer, it’s going to be a fun season
