Blue Hens, Navy Ink Deal For 2022 Matchup
NEWARK, Del. – Joe Flacco threw for 400-plus yards and four TDs. Omar Cuff ran for 140-plus yards and four TDs of his own. It’s a game that generations of Blue Hens fans talk about for hours. October 27, 2007 – an unforgettable 59-52 victory over the Midshipmen of Navy.
15 years later, the Blue Hens will travel back to Annapolis as Delaware and Navy have set up a non-conference matchup during the 2022 season.
“It’s important for us to give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete against quality opponents and that’s exactly what this game signifies. In addition, any time you play against a service academy institution it adds a little bit extra because of the dedication and sacrifice that those institutions represent,” Head Coach Danny Rocco said. “We know that there’s a lot of history in this series and we hope our fans are just as excited as we are.”
The two schools have met 17 times, with the last meeting coming in 2013. Navy holds the overall series advantage 10-7 with 14 of those games coming in Annapolis.
