1st Time Champs

Today was a great day for high school athletics. Unfortunately I was unable to attend either game but listening to them on the radio (so old I know), I could tell the games where great. Congrats to both champions. My question is, when was the last time two team with no previous state championships winning both DI and DII the same year?

I didn't give it anywhere near a thorough look, but glancing at previous champions I am going to guess 1989 when Glasgow and Caravel won.

That's a long time and nice to see new faces in the mix.

It is nice. Part of what keeps it from happening is there are fewer Division I teams than II. And some of those D-I teams won state titles when they were in Division II.
