Sanfords wrestling mostly out of state tournaments. They wrestled in the Milford Classic instate and scheduled for the Middletown Canal Classic.. They only have 3 dual meets scheduled.. I guess they are assuming they will win the Independent Conference championship to get into state duels?

There is no independent dual meet champ or auto bid for independent conference. Sanford struggles to get duals. Being that they recruit d2 teams don't want to wrestle them and there is no upside for d1 teams to wrestle them other than competition. Cape, IR and Friends are their only De duals.

The committee will have to look at sanfords performance in the state matches they do wrestle versus other D2 teams as well as tournamemt finishes. They are smart and wrestle IR so they will have common a common opponent with all other teams from henlopen south and friends so they will have a common opponent with most other indepemdent teams who are mostly D2.

I was told Sanford wrestled 5 dual meets at Easton Invitational Duals, so that would give them 8 for the season. Don't know if that makes a difference. On McDonough, I know I saw him in a boot or a cast earlier in the season, so I would guess he's got an injury.

I believe there was a Rule years ago, that to qualify for Dual States, had to wrestle 3 or 4 matches against In-State opponents to qualify. Don't know if that's still the case. St. Marks used to only wrestle 3 In-State Duals in the late 90's, early 2000's.
