All-Conference Teams

The all conference voting for the henlopen north was a complete joke this year, Henderson and Griffin from ST gets 2nd team. I have a whole list of kids that were robbed its unbelievable. Neither the first or 2nd teams are really valid to me.

dang if Chesdel got this worked up you know something stinks.. must be some really butthurt coaches in the HN.. Instead of 40 or 50 I hope he puts 60 on them next year...:p

no worries I am confident the coaches north of the canal will correct this egregious error come all state voting

Interesting side note... I just found out DIFCA allowed the non-conference teams to submit an all-non conference team this year...so that is a good thing... Currently exists of players from

Caravel
Red Lion
DMA
Conrad

Unbelievable! Nolan Henderson (based on the one game I saw him this year) is by far and away the best QB in the state.( I have seen a few games.) Not only that the young man is one of the best DE HS QB's I have ever seen. Now, he might fall back next year but based on what I saw he is comparable to Darius Wade in his 11th grade year at Middletown. (Because of the offense...his passing stats have to be superior to DW's stats his 11th grade year)

For the kid not to be 1st team all conference is preposterous. He is my 1st team all state QB hands down. Unreal...
Not sure he is he same caliber as Darius Wade -4 trips to championship winning 2, not yet anyway. Darius was head shoulders above the competition using his arm and legs, Henderson does have great vision and very accurate arm.,Nolan I'm sure will right the wrong , win the ring that will show the skeptics!! N H coaches & the good old boys!!

Henderson : Passing 2797yds 150comp 214att .701pct 29tds 9ints 138.5 qb rating
Rushing 314 yds 9.2 yds per carry 4 tds (31 carries)

Knight had 147 carries for 1423 yds and 26 tds
Whaley 36 carries for 269 8tds

So for those that think its because they pass all the time lets examine the numbers

Henderson passed 21.4 times a game
Henderson,Knight,Whaley rushed 21.4 times a game

Passing yards - 2797
Rushing yards - 2006

Passing TDs- 29
Rushing TDs- 38

Thats about as balanced an attack as you can get

NH stats are off the charts. I'm sure the 1st team QB from Dover is good. In all fairness I haven't seen him play. But I did see NH vs. Sallies and was impressed. Love to see the other kids stats to see how the HN coaches could justify putting him above NH. Not that it should be the deciding factor but the real stat is he has led his team to a 9-1 record and a shot at a state title.

Nothing against Harris... I would've gave him 2nd team in the Henlopen North... But "Come on man"... Henderson is legit 1st Team Henlopen North and legit All State material...

Mob...I think I had enough qualifiers in the statement that there was no need to defend DW ---who is without a doubt the best DE HS QB I have seen in the last 25 years.....
but this years passing stats alone put Henderson in the conversation.
Wade was a man among boys his 11th grade year with one of the greatest DE HS FB teams of all time. His senior year he lost a great deal of O lineman and it was a competitive year between the Big S and the Cavs.

3,313 views and 56 replies to a thread about all conference. This is why I hate depreps. It's like a gossip board anymore. The playoffs do start this weekend. Just saying.

fof123...This board is, and should be, about results, news, issues, players and teams involved in DE Football. Talking about a perceived snub in the All Conference voting encompasses each of these categories. Where is the gossip? There are posts about this coming playoff weekend. No one has forgotten. I simply don't understand what is bothering you. If so many people have viewed and/or commented about this subject, that means that it is a relevant topic. Is something wrong with depreps or is something wrong with your perception of what are appropriate discussion topics on depreps? Just asking.

My point is that the kid and his Dad have moved on from what I gathered from that message that Mr. Henderson put on here. I thought that was great by the way.

Maybe it's time for us to move on also. We can bitch and moan all day but it won't change anything.

The kid got screwed. We all know it. It's beating a dead horse at this point.

If someone hates DEPreps then it's simple...don't visit the site, read or make posts. I personally enjoy reading all of the topics, news & opinions from most people which is what a message board is for & I assume nobody is made to visit the site against their will.

The point was depreps used to be a lot better especially when Rich Long was around. Real articles , stats ,,,etc.....

Hell I can't even read the baseball board it's full of advertisements.

The reason I was trying to squash this subject is simple . It's a disservice to the young man from Dover who was selected the 1st team QB. We all made our point. The other thread about this same subject now wants to compare stats between Henderson and Harris. Do we seriously need to do that ? And like I said from what Mr. Henderson put on here it sounds like he and his son have put it behind them . If they've moved passed it then I'm cool with it.

OK fof123, I see your point. I would like to see something come out of our discussion, even if it doesn't impact the player in question. Fair-minded, intelligent people with only the players interest at heart may consider measures to improve the system for selection. If it is true, I do like the idea that the All State selection is not automatically tethered to the conference selections. But the real value of this discussion is that next year or five years from now, All Conference selections most accurately reflect the accomplishments of the players on the field and not some arbitrary criteria, or attempt to pick and choose from a particular team, or send any message to certain teams or coaches. The coaches have to remember that fairness should always be the overarching theme. I don't mind these discussion because I think that some good or awareness can come from them, But in the interest of giving the "dead horse" a break, I don't need to keep commenting on this issue!

Sad, sad...

Where I am from we do it right.. .If your QB wins the conference and has numbers he is ALWAYS first team. Did Smyrna not win the conference? First time since forever.. The QB also far and away has the best numbers in the state. How could he not be first time? Those coaches in that conference should be ashamed of themselves. It makes them look silly and clueless.

His numbers are very good and a lot of that he can thank the receivers.High percent of his passes are short yard passes.Personally I think he is best in state.

The voters have spoken, what is the problem? The coaches in the Henny North know all the QB's they have played against. Respect the decision, or question all the others. Linebacker, OT or any other position. This was the decision of the Henlopen North,

I guess stats and numbers no longer matter.

Yeah - Hurt coaches who got throttled by Smyrna being "small" and "petty". Love to know if the vote for all conference is open or secret ballot. Every conference I have been a head coach in we vote open.. We nominate our players.. Put their name on the board.. We say our thing about them (Height, Weight, Stats, etc.. ) and from there we vote and put numbers on the board. Not many places but I have heard some conferences do secret ballot. IMO that is a bad idea and recipe for disaster.. Especially with coaches that have an agenda..

Next you are going to tell the coach from Dover got Coach of the year too... Right - everyone wins and everyone gets a trophy...

Completely agree. OPEN VOTING

I am not sure how they do the conference voting in DE but for All-State each coach is sent a ballot that simply has each position and three blanks for them to write in their 1st 2nd and 3rd choice.. all conference really doesn't have any bearing on the choices other than for the coaches to find names to fill in the spots they don't know. Not all the coaches bother to fill it out though.. not sure what percentage do.. There is some horse trading as in write in mine Ill write in yours going on from what I hear.. Probably more so in the conference voting I would assume.

I can see where it would be a difficult task coming up the three most deserving names for each position so I am sure they refer to all conference list the help fill it in

The votes for All State are tallied by an outside accounting firm..
