Cheyney Sports on shaky ground

Yes, I am that old. My late brother in law and classmate at Salesianum graduated from the Mount in 1971. Fred Carter was in Mount class of 1969. I believe that Fred went to Philadelphia's Ben Franklin when it was still an all boys high school.

Doggie was under recruited out of high school. It was a combination of his grades and black players were very under-recruited back in the day. (unless they were Kareem like..)

If I am not mistaken, he was the first black student at Mt. St. Mary's.

PS. If I weren't busy I would look up on Ted Silary's website who were the all city HS players back in 1965. Then again I took the time to post this!!

I ought to get a life. Fred Carter was all city in 1963, the year he graduated from Ben Franklin. He didn't enter college until 2 years after he graduated. I don't know if he went to a prep school or was working. He was a hell of a talent...
