Ed Manlove- Possible undefeated season and 2nd consecutive playoff berth

Bill Collick- Could finish 8-2 make playoff appearance

Jeremy Maull- lost a host of players including top RB Brightwell and manages to have StG in hunt for title.

Strickland- Milford is playing well. Could go undefeated and earn a playoff berth.

Shannon Riley- Glasgow is BALLING and a showdown with STG could be for the conference chip.

Hearn- has Delmar quietly sitting at 5-2 and poised to to play spoiler

DMA- only loss is to undefeated Milford and is looking for back to back playoff appearances.

I agree. If WB goes 10-0 with 5 or more shutouts after losing its Defensive Coordinator Ed Manlove is going to be tough to skip over. Riley has done a FANTASTIC job. I wouldn't want to vote on this one.

Yes Maull lost a few guys but they have every middle schooler in New Castle wishing to go to the school. It is never a rebuilding year for them.

That would be Hodgson. Kids want to go to the school that has won multiple chips.

Rebuilding? Maybe not but that's a heck of a punch to take.

I for sure didn't think they would be right here right now and I definitely thought Penn would double them up.

Not sure about that ...
Look at star power over the past few years. Have Williams, he leaves and twins step in. Twins leave then insert Blackwell. Hvt was Buck and the other guys.

But I will say he has done a good job.

Referring to "every middle schooler " in N.C wanting to go to school there

I think Manlove wins this award because while Woodbridge had a brief run of success some 15-plus years ago, they were never a state championship threat. Now they're considered the best small-school team in the state without much fanfare (being below the Canal does that to you). Shannon Riley would be my next pick because while they still have their moments, those Glasgow kids have matured nicely over the course of two seasons.

I'm not sold on Manlove. he has a team with talent, and a cupcake schedule. They played well at the end of the year last year but who have they played? And it's not a knock on Manlove or his team because he is a fine coach and I think they are very good but they've seen 1 team with a wining record. When you have the talent they have you have to wait to see how they respond against some adversity. they will be tested at least twice if not all 3 of their last 3 games. Maull at St. Georges is doing a fine job losing one of the best young backs in the state last year and some other key pieces, strickland at milford has an undefeated team with 2 backs out the last 2 or 3 games with no word on their returns, collick at cape has his team rolling after a rough start. Hearn goes 2-8 last year and has his boys sitting at 5-2 and ready to make a statement closing the season with milford then woodbridge. I feel at the least these 4 are doing more but i could be wrong.

just looked.
woodbridge opponents - 13-37
milford opponents - 17-33
and that wasn't my point for Strickland. my point was he has continued to win with his number 1 AND 2 backs down and nobody knows if they will return or not. that has to speak for something

Dover is a D1 opponent. A 3000 population school. 7 of those 17 wins that you speak of comes from DMA smh.

Milford has probably the WEAKEST schedule of any Help. South or flight B team. Conrad? Red lion? Come on man

Lol man glasgows schedule is much easier. But you seem upset life lesson so you got it. Woodbridge played polytech, a Virginia team with 1 win, and FYI Dover sucks, idk what population has to do with the team that walks on the field. Then bringing up dma is a good point because milford blanked them and they are 6-1 and considered a quality team. But you got it lol

Not upset just sports talk. You guys at Milford are doing a good job i just feel that teams like WB and Glasgow both have played a better schedule. Take nothing away from Strickland just wanted to show that the schedules of WB and Milford are close but I give WB the edge for playing D1 Dover. Glasgow has a by FAR tougher schedule than both.

Glasgow has to play Howard, StG and Hodgson. Those are traditional playoff contenders and 2 are D2 powers and title game participants.

They also played D1 Newark

Milford doesn't have one D1 team on its schedule. I think Milford is good but to say your sold on milford but not WB or Glasgow bc of schedule is FUNNY.

How can you say Glasgow has a tougher schedule....up to this point Glasgow's opponents are 11-37 and 4 of those wins are by Hodgson. You can't say a team has a better schedule because they play teams that traditionally are playoff contenders. Plus if you want to talk about the entire schedule, Woodbridge and Milford both still play each other 7-0 each plus 5-2 Delmar. All 3 of those teams are legitimate playoff contenders. Just because a team is D1 doesn't mean that are superior to D2, Woodbridge played Poly who most D2 teams would beat.

What FanoftheGames was getting at is for Milford they are without their best 2 RB's and still winning and fairly big. That'd be a big loss to a Smryna/Middletown that has depth, D2 doesn't have as many kids, so that is a bigger blow to a team like Milford.

I think you have to give credit to Manlove though, no matter who they play, for him to win at the rate he has shows something. Especially when a good amount of their best athletes go to Sussex Tech or they at least used too. Remember Kani Kane, he was a WB kid. Imagine him playing with Wescott?!? Could have been scary!

Imagine if there was a place that this could be settled. A competition of sorts, where these teams could actually go and play each other and settle the issue on the field. If only.............

Friday night is the beginning and playoffs will tell it ALL. I know one thing you don't want a team like Howard or Caravel to make playoffs. They will spoil a teams season.

Newark has lost to St. Marks, Appo, Concord, Penn and Glasgow.
All playoff contenders lol. That's why they don't have wins fellas. They are playing GOOD teams. Is this really that hard to see?

Hodgson and Howard are playing CONTENDERS. They are beating up.on each other. They are not playing Conrad, Red lion, polytech and St John paul.

Newark has played some good teams, but don't kid yourself. They are losing because they're not good this season. Still rebuilding.

How About Dooley. The William Penn Team losgt everybody last year. They have a chance to be 9-1 at the end. Wow never seen gthem beating Sallies or Concord after Middle-town handed them a Butt whipped. He has keep them improving. The Def is so solid against the run. Nice job so far. He has to be in the Div I Coach of the year running. He has gotten the most out of his players.

Manlove hands down. Smallest school in the State, has to fight off Tech from taking their best players. Great job by him to put Woodbridge in the mix.

I agree with Manlove Div II - Div I I do think William Penn Dooley has done a amazing job with a average at best team. They may go 9-1 and have beat Sallies and Concord on back to back weekends on the road. I am just impressed because they lost the entire OL/DL and I had them losing both them games.

Just like Woodbridge is a small school in Sussex, Glasgow is a small school in new Castle. I am a ghigh alum and now live in Dover. Woodbridge gets raided by Tech but GHS has players go to all 4 Techs and the million charter schools up that way lol. I did get up to our class reunion in early October and I heard how the comprehensive high schools up north are getting killed with enrollment. GHS is in the 700's and was not on many people's radars to begin the year. Having a chance to be 10-0 is a major accomplishment.

Coach of the Year typically goes to a champion.. The boys may decide this one
You have no Clue Coach of the year does not always go to the Champion. Hodgson won back to back he never won the award. Laurel did not win and they he won it the hear he lost by 40. The Champion is not always the best Coach. Look at what they did to get there team to were there team finished. So Smyrna has the most talent if he win the Championship is he the best coach this year???????
