UNI Wrestling hosts South Dakota State and Missouri in a pair of duals Friday and Sunday at the West Gym. UNI enters the weekend with a 1-2 dual record and are coming off a win over Utah Valley. South Dakota State has a 4-3 record and Missouri is 5-4 on the season, but wrestle Ohio before coming to Cedar Galls.
• Jay Schwarm (125), Jack Skudlarczyk (133), Michael Blockhus (141), Max Thomsen (149), Bryce Steiert (174), Taylor Lujan (184), Jacob Holschlag (197) and Carter Isley (285) are all ranked in the in their weight classes in various polls. Michael Blockus (141) and Carter Isley (285) jumped into the rankings after a strong showing at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite.
• South Dakota State has three athletes in the FloWrestling rankings. Henry Pohlmeyer (149), Zach Carlson (184) and Tanner Sloan (197) are all ranked in the top-25.
• Five Missouri wrestlers are ranked. Grant Leeth (141), Brock Mauller (149), Jarrett Jacques (157), Dylan Wisman (184) and Wyatt Koelling (197) are all ranked in the Flo Wrestling top-25.
• Taylor Lujan was named the Big-12 Wrestler of the Week after winning Midlands and picking an MD in the Utah Valley Dual. It is the four of his career and the second on the season for UNI.
• Lujan and Bryce Steiert are both 15-2 on the season. Lujan won the title of the Midlands Championship while Steiert earned Big-12 Wrestler of the Week honors after taking second at the Cliff Keen Invite.
• The Panthers are coming off of a 32-12 win over Utah Valley. The Panthers earned bonus points from five different weights.
• UNI finished second at the Midlands for the second season in a row. Taylor Lujan became the ninth Midlands Champion for the Panthers and four UNI wrestlers placed at the meet.
• Six Panthers earned individual titles at the Harold Nichols Open. UNI finished fourth at the Cliff Keen Invite after six Panthers placed, including a second-place finish for Steiert.
