This post is stolen from Basketball Thread....in the News Journal this AM. DelState will play at Florida State and West Virginia next year. (Garnering $475,000 and $500,000...) $975,000 next year for an 0-11 program. This is lunacy. I understand that this is paying for a lot of DelState sports but how about limiting this to one game a year. This program has to compete in the MEAC.

While I see your point, I don't have a big problem with it on a few fronts. 1) when you lose those games it's no big deal as that's what everyone expects, 2) can be a positive recruiting tool to play at big schools, 3) this program needs a lot, and that kind of money can help provide it. I think Coach Carter is working hard to build something positive there and hope he gets a little more time to see what comes of it.

No shot meant at Coach Carter at all. It is better pointed at the AD who is trying to pay the bills. Yes, it is a good recruiting tool if you don't get blown way like 70-0 twice in a year.

If you take a lot of injuries in an early season game against a Power Five Conference school you won't be competitive in the MEAC.

Now, if you are Appalachian State and get paid to go to Michigan, beat them, and get the coach fired that is good stuff.

In the purpose of fairness and in the interest of being a Delaware taxpayer I should do some research and see how much the Hens got paid to play at Ptt, Maryland and Wake Forest over the past 5 years.

One more thought, Danny Rocco did take the Richmond team into Charlottesville and beat Virginia last year.

HC, I want Coach Carter to be successful.

Uncle - sorry if my post came across wrong. In no way thought you were anti-Carter and you do of course have valid points. The feedback I've heard from players at lower level programs who got to play at a big time venue has always been positive, in that they enjoyed getting to be in that type of facility/environment even if it meant getting trounced. Merry Christmas to all!

ill advised, probably will end worse than Pitt 62-0 over UD. It's nice to challenge yourself, but this is too much. Hoping they come thru without serious injuries.

Talking about sending the sacrificial lamb into the Lions den:

Hope their ready, they take their football serious down south!

This could be even worse than the 105-0 beat down that Portland State put on the Hornets back in the mid eighties!

Neil Lonax lit them up like a pinball machine, 7 TD passes in 1st qtr.
