Drew Fry - college offers?

wonder what the knock on Fry Daddy is? height? state?competition? UD is QB flush so in that case they just dont need to waste a scholly on that position this year. He does seem to be the same player he was two years ago (when I was selling Get Fryed Tees) development? Does he do the camp and combine circuit?

I’ve heard it was grades

Plays in DE . He’s good but I don’t see DI FBS. He’d be a real nice FCS or DII QB.

why dont you see FBS? I see qualities like feel for the game , makes plays , throws receivers open, leadership, winner . very Tom Brady like ( i mention TB because he was a combine flop) Now if he doesn't lead MT to a ship this year then the winner tag could be tainted.. Not trying to put any pressure on the kid but he does play a pressure position...I think he can play his way to a FBS offer.. Unfortunately this week he will be running for his life

Coastal Carolina is FBS and admission standards are pretty easy in comparison. 950 SAT and around a 3.2 should be a lock. Of course QB recruits would get some leniency. For him to have even one FBS offer as a QB from DELAWARE is nothing to scuff at.

So why wouldn't there be a bunch of D2 offers already out there for him?

there is no leniency based on position the standards are the standards whether you are long snapper or QB

NCAA standards are 2.3 GPA but...

Students that earn at least a 2.0 GPA but not a 2.3 GPA and meet the current sliding scale standard (for example, an SAT score of 1,010 requires a 2.025 high school core course GPA) will be eligible for practice in the first term and athletically related financial aid the entire year, but not competition. Freshmen who are academically successful in the first term will earn the ability to continue to practice for the remainder of the year.

2.3 is a C average its really a joke,, Kids applying for college and financial aide need to be way better than that to get in and accepted,, Its a shame in our society that athletes can get to the same schools for being just good at sports ,. Money and its a joke not fair to the kids who work hard and study to get to a school they want and be denied because their spot went to some good so so student athlete... what is college? a place to go and build your future or some school that fans can chest thump about there football team?

@prepfootballstars let me ask in your honest opinion in regard to more FBS considerations. could a problem for him be that since he does play in DE and competition isn’t as high more frequently they he often does not show good footwork, mechanics or get the ball out quick because they are 50% of the time just bombing the ball because of Middletown’s athletic dominance.

Your correct about the sliding scale but there are minimums. Each school has different internal requirements I have shared this with some recruits and coaches in Delaware. Those bare minimums they publish only will be utilized for high value prospects of the 4 and 5 star variety. The majority of kids are not that. Admission oversight for team GPA and many other factors apply. Similar to Banding from the Ivey league. Every FBS school has one now. A high Value QB would certainly be evaluated on the minimum standards. A punter long snapper would not be. You would not know this however because they would Just offer the long snapper or punter with the higher GPA and test scores

Oh that kid is special. I heard that he is not only held high sports wise but an extremely popular kid. I personally think that any school he goes to he will thrive.

Most D1 hopefulls are advised my many not to publicize D2 offers. Along the same line as kids posting PWO offers. There is a game within the game when it comes to this. He could have many, or not. I know a couple kids who have Solid D2 offers in Delaware who have not made it public. Personally I feel they should be happy with any scholarship, post away be proud. But it’s just different today with how recruiting has become almost crowd based. One school offers the rest follow. First one is the hardest. It’s all really getting to be dumb

He has Coastal Carolina and Delaware State.
Not bad for a Delaware QB and pure QB.
He was also at a camp at Syracuse, not sure how serious they were about him.

Its really dumb because there are so many programs available to go to school for free and not have to be an employee of the football program and even if playing football for the school is what want to do you can always walk on and play if your good enough.but in the end you have a employable degree that you academically earned You know a third of the UD scholarship football players are taking a degree in Afrimerican Studies?? It was the same when we visited Wesley as well Not that that isnt an important subject as it is but as a major? what jobs does that employ? community organizer?

Not totally sure about the source. But Appo standards are not the highest but if a student does not meet the standard, he/she is put on probation and can still play sports while on probation. So, they didn’t meet the standard but we will lower the standard so they meet it. And then eventually they will meet the original standard.

I hope this is not correct!!!!!!

I really like Fry. Great player for Delaware high school football, but 9 times out of 10, when you go into your senior season without offers, your not going to get them. Especially playing QB. If he has aspirations of playing D1 football, he may want to look at the JuCo route. If he plays well against IMG, he very well may get some coaches attention. If he doesn’t play well against IMG, it may do the opposite even if they were considering him.

I don’t put too much stake in Coastal Carolina offers, because they just throw out a net of offers every year. They offer everybody, knowing they can’t honor all of them if the players were to accept. Lots of schools actually do this, but Coastal Carolina has been called on this many times. A verbal offer means nothing, until you receive a written official offer. Lots of players find that out the hard way when they call the coach to say they want to commit, and the coach tells them they decided to go in another direction.

No UD scholly players are majoring in AA studies. There are about a dozen players on the squad majoring in criminal justice.
