Mtown vs Hvt for Flight A this friday. Pretty impressive for Hodgson to go from 5-5 in D2 last year, to competing for #1 seed in D1 a year later. Havent seen many games this year, does Hodgson stand a chance in this one @mtown???

Nada! No chance. And Hodgson can't get the 1 seed. Middletown and Smyrna will still be above them in Points. They are locked into the 3rd seed.

Ah understood thanks ! Havent followed much this year, Just wondered if HVT stood a remote chance

Hodgson might give the Cavs a game early on, but Mtown will pull away before halftime......it should be fun however. First time I can remember Hodgson ever coming to Middletown and playing. They'll be in for a treat, especially with the playoff atmosphere that usually starts this week.

I've only seen one team come up from D2 and go into Cavalier stadium unfothemed. That was Concord. Mount, Brandywine, St. George's and Appo have all struggle to put up what they used to down in Division 2. The lights are brighter, crowds louder, and attendance is bigger. Hodgsons freshman QB has never been in a situation like what he's going to be in Friday so it will be fun to see how he handles it and progresses as the game goes on. No matter the outcome, it's going to help him grow for his next 3 years.

I was on the first HVT state championship team back in 07. The first team to go 13-0 in the state of Delaware. We played sallies that year but i could never recall a time HVT played middletown, so i am eager to see how they stack up. Hoping for a competitive game at least !

Couldn't agree more with Gate.

Random guy.....I'm not gonna ask you to throw your name out there but, I remember that game like it was yesterday. Sat on Hodgsons side and was all decked out in the Maroon and silver. (Yes I know. A die hard Mtown fan, wearing any colors but Blue) but My Younger brother was at Hodgson at that time. Graduated in 2009. So the family is all about Hodgson/Middletown. But The Division 1 and Division 2 championship games that year came down to the wire. Two of the better games I've seen and played.

I love what Hodgson is doing. For years we always wanted to play them. So, as a fan and Mtown alumni, I hope the game is a great one. I wish Hodgson all the best this post season........except for when they line up against my Cavs.

That year would of been a good one for mtown and HVT to play, the merrill twins vs gerlitz and company. I think it woulda been a hell of a game.

I was a 2010 grad so i probably knew your brother . Won a ring at hvt and also lost one, its great to see them succeeding in D1. I grew up playing MOT football with all the mtown guys, so i grew up on friday night football watching mtown play. Decided to go to HVT and luckily had success there. Wish both teams the best of luck !

I think this game might be a little closer than people think. Both teams have great defenses but MT has a more explosive offense. Fry and Whitehead make the difference. Temperature could be in the low 40's or high 30's for the game as well. Football weather finally.

Middletown puts it away in the 4th quarter

Cavs 27-13

Hodgson Qb will be fine he has played fbu football in college stadiums with more people in the stands then could fit in Middletown stadium and just won a National championship in Florida earlier this year. I believe it comes down to the running game and the offensive lines for both teams. It’s going to be in the 30’s maybe 20’s no team has played in this type weather all year so I believe this is a major factor. I’d say Middletown has the advantage but I’d bet its a very close low scoring game . I’ll see y’all there

I could be wrong but with a win Hodgson would get the #2 seed considering it’s worth 8points

No one has been able to stop Mtowns offense. Sallies was the closest but still failed. they will have no problem with Hodgson. They will have to score 50 to beat the Cavs.

But Mtown is already ahead of Hodgson by 7 points.....you win yes you get the 8 point win, but Mtown will get one point for losing and two bonus points......(Even with a DMA win and extra BP, Hodgson is still shy one point of a tie. a la....locked into a first round game.....UNLESS, Polytech beats Smyrna then Hodgson and Smyrna would flip flop.

You can have all the hope you want, but this isn't William Penn, or St. George's, or Howard. It's one of, if not the most dominant programs in the state of Delaware this last decade. Hodgson will be rattled, even before stepping off the bus. All if not most are when coming into that stadium with its fan base. They have to have a lot of things go their way for it to finish close........it will be a Smyrna-Middletown rematch in December.

hodgson has 49 points coming into this week, I could be wrong but I believe Smyrna has 48

Hodgson has 48

Sussex Central - 2
Howard - 5
Newark - 6
Concord - 6
DMA - 5
William Penn - 6
Delcastle - 6
St: George's - 6
Appo - 6 = 48

Smyrna has 49

Middletown - 3
Franklin - 2
Irvington - 7
Cape - 6
Caesar Rodney - 6
Sussex Central - 7
Dover - 6
Sussex Tech - 6
Sallies - 6 = 49

Middletown has 55

Smyrna - 7
William Penn - 6
Delcastle - 6
St. George's - 6
Appo - 6
Sallies - 6
Upper Darby - 6
Newark - 6
Concord - 6 = 55

Hodgson potential BP from DMA
Smyrna potential BP from CR
Middletown is done with BP unless Hodgson wins...then they get 2 BP on top of the point for the loss.

Hodgson would NEED Smyrna to lose to Polytech for a bye,

Wow this is funny. Like they are going up to play NFL football from pop Warner.

That is a little overstated prep. Your new here HS is a Middletown homer and a bit of a D1 snob. HVT is in its 1st year as a D1 team and they only won ships in D2 when they had Buck Jones. In D2 they always have had the rep of having numbers and athletes but not well coached. None the less HS is a regular here and we give him a pass on his homerism

Actually it's not. It's the hardest place to play as an opponent in the state. If there's a such thing as a 12th man, that is it!

What's funny is you. You come onto this board claiming not to know anything "looking" for star running backs, claiming the kid in the video you first posted is this all mighty being, when he doesn't even play on a team in Delaware, so personally, he's irrelevant. This is DEpreps as in Delaware. Then you continue to talk up all these D2 teams down south and how great Delmar and Woodbridge And whoever is when in reality you've seen them play what? Once? Maybe twice? On 302sports? Cmon, no one takes you seriously expect for Southdude because he's a Delmar fan and even then, For someone who claimed he didn't know anything two-three weeks ago, you sure have a lot to say today. STFU and get off MY lawn!

........

Like RR just said. I'm a Middletown homer, but when I used to cover games, I leave my homerism at bay. Since I've stopped it's all about Middletown for me. And a D1 snob, I won't dispute that. RR couldn't be more right, IMO D2 is like the little sisters of the poor. I've seen many games in D1 and D2 in my time and the atomphere and gameplay is different. One looks slower than the other. But that's just my opinion, I've stated that for years.

Yes there is a 12th man in Seattle or in Baltimore
Not in HS football that’s just a bit of a reach. And personally all of Delmarva that includes Delaware is what I was looking at. That includes places like Kent Island and Snowhill Md also Dover and north Delaware. And I have spent every Friday and Saturday watching games in this area live. I really don’t care who wins in the south norh east west. I tell it like I see it. David bailey best RB in this area. Will night and Roberts I think are tied for second each are different. And third is Brooks Parker for Delmar. Bowman in my opinion is 4th. This is includes all the schools from the bay bridge in MD to the Tunnel South up to the canal on Delaware
. I really have no rooting interest in any team. Everyone has an opinion. And I don’t watch the 302 games. Just live and film of the kids playing. One more thing this area Delmarva is all lumped together into the same brand of football. Even tho there are some bigger schools. The competitive landscape is not that high.

And I have watched every snap of those kids with the exception of Parker because I only seen him play the one time but it was enough. And there seems to be no tape of that kid anywhere without contacting his coach I guess.

What scouting business do you work for prep?
We are part of an independent group of 30 seperate companies that evaluate talent for all the major services, but mainly we provide the information directly to college program scouts. Typical we are in an area on their behalf doing some of the dirty work they don’t have time for.

My team has 12 people but some of them have upwards of 100. Depends on what type of area you are in. Think of it as subcontractors for scouts. If a underrated area has three or four big time athletes coming out it typically companies like ours come in and look at everyone we can in that area. Mostly we service smaller D1 schools that can’t get the 5 star guys. And have less of a budget for scouting. That’s what we do in a nut shell.

My group scouts Backs and Linebackers, but we also look at anyone. Usually the schools already have guys on the rader that we are hear evaluating. But the value companies like ours are tying to service is the underrated no star guy. That’s the edge these smaller D1 schools have to push. And it’s getting bigger every year. When we started there was 8 companies like ours now there are 30 that I know of. So it’s growing

Whats the name of the company ? I am very familiar with what you described. The yelllow pages are full off want adds advertising start up HS recutting businesses . Not saying that is what you are but who do you work for what are your qualifications that deems you an expert on HS athletes in Demarva

My qualifications are Bench warming former D 1 AA junior college transfer RB with a degree in statistical analysis. I have no special Delmarva qualifications I’m from rural Ohio

Well there you go. You have the same qualifications as every wanna be recruiting service taking money from wanna be D1 parents of kids out there I am sure you have connections beyond your achievements though? Connections high school coaches don’t have??? Tell me more

We don’t take money from parents. Or anyone outside of the contracts we have. And it’s a very analytical game now for a lot of them. It’s hard to ask your college scouts to chart plays of a prospect in rural delware or Indiana when you have to send them to the private schools in big time programs to try and get the 5 star guys. We provide unique quantifiable data to them that they use to help make decisions. Ultimately they make offeres based on many things. This helps them in the process. Some rely on it Others not so much. I can tell you that it’s significantly more involved then your average wanna be recruitier you referenced above. And often the data points they are looking for are given to us before hand by the program. All of them have something different they empathize.
