Ok so starting a thread for Delaware HSers in D1 college NOT including ones we see at DSU & UD.
First, let me say no discount on all the great 302 players getting it done at NIAA, JUCO, D2 & D3 levels. Their performances are every bit as noteworthy and hard earned as the players noted below. Milford’s Abe Mow, Slippery Rock; Woodbridge’s Doug Avery VWU, are just a couple athletes I know are ripping it up. I just don’t have time to note everyone so it seemed an easy line to draw at D1 (I think there are more than most thought ? ... it’s not just about the Cape kids ... although I attempted to update what I’ve heard about that too.)
Feel free someone else to update any of those notable players at those other levels in this thread or anyone I missed.
Second, there is no discount meant to the players playing at in-state DSU & UD. Just had to save time somewhere and it seemed the easiest and best way to get all those player updates is just to jump on those two team pages. To me, with so many 302 players on those rosters there is an easier way to get updates on them than DE Forms. This post was meant to start with the players, playing out of our immediate news area that some may be curious of or forgot about ... so here is a starting point:
Appo, Javon Fields, Towson FR starting CF for them in 6/7 games, batting .300 (second highest BA on team) w/ triple, hit GW RBI v Davidson
Appo, Ryan Steckline, Monmouth SOPH .. I believe tough luck weekend starter 0-3, in 3 GS, 0-6 limited ABs .. seems to be core player for them.
CAPE, Austin Elliott, FR, UNC is one of deepest teams in nation. Believe he’s taking a redshirt year. (Game reports in Fall sat 92-94 with lot of Ks ... just insane amount of arms and positional depth)
CAPE, David Erickson, Liberty FR projected as #1 impact FR in Atlantic Sun Conf. by D1 baseball off Fall success, 2 appearance out of pen, struck out side in 1 IP, (92-94) 0.00 ERA, I believe he has minor fatigue & team is being cautious w/ PT ... expect lot of work this season before all done.
CAPE, Zack Gelof, FR UVA starting 3rd & batting leadoff. Played 12/12 games & leads team in Runs, RBI, SB batting .318. Hot start to season going 4-5 4RBI, 3 2b v. # 1 in Nation Vandy televised on MLB Network
CAPE, Zach Savage FR Lafayette does not appear to have seen game action yet
Carvel, Aaron Holiday FR RHP Old Dominion appeared in 3 games pitching to 1.50 ERA 6.0 IP with 7Ks
Dover, Dimitri Floyd, UMBC SOPH C, saw action in 2 of 6 GP
Dover, Avery Tunnell, UMES, SOPH platoon OF started in 7/12 games, batting .231 with .375 OBP
Episcopal Academy, Isiah Payton FR Penn State IF 0-1 in one AB / game played
Middletown, Cole Dunn, Radford FR named weekend starter (huge for FR) Started 3 games 0-1 so far, has pitched very well although stats don’t show it.
Middletown, Brandon Roher, Liberty SOPH played or started in 8/12 games OF, batting .296 with .424 OBP, a middle to top of the order bat for them.
Milford, Bryce Greenly, Virginia FR OF doesn’t appear to have seen game action yet but played very well in Fall.
Newark, Nick Zegna RHP FR George Mason 2-0 (wins over Marshall & Princeton) with a 0.00 Era 10 IP / 5ks
Red Lion, Tripp Willis JMU FR OFer played 5 of 12 games, 2 for 6 AB
Salies, Nicholas Robino Wagner’s (D1) JR closer ... an All NEC selection as Soph 46.2 IP, 23 IP as freshman, great stats 1st 2yrs ... pitched well against UVA 3/6/19, core arm for the team.
Salies, Josh MaGuire Maryland FR IF doesn’t appear to have seen game action yet
Smyrna, Dario Anderson Wagner JR OFer, batting .353 in 14 ABs 4 out of 7 GP
St. Elizabeth, Nate Thomas FR St. Joes, Starting 3rd, middle of order played 8/8 games .. batting .333, .412 OBP
Sussex Central, DJ Dougherty UMES JR starting C batting .242 started 9/12 games played
Sussex Tech, Luke Oliphant UMASS, SOPH OFer, started 4/4 games played in CF, batting .333 leads team SB
Tatnall, Oliver Campbell SOPH Dartmouth 1B does not appear to have seen game action yet this year
Wilm Christian, Luke Rettig, Leigh FR RHP 4IP, appeared 2 games (Duke & Mt St Mary) 2.25 ERA, opponents hitting .125 against, 7Ks
My question:
Conrad, Brock Nowell ? FAU Injured 1st year at FAU not sure anymore ? Anyone Update ?
And who did I miss
