I have only seen Newark once this year but they are very undisciplined and this is not surprising,,,

One more for Lasanna Brew. 4th touchdown run makes it 49-21 Middletown

Sussex Central 35, Cape Henlopen 21 FINAL.

Cape and Newarks Losses keep Sallies in the hunt...

Newark lost running back Houck in pre season and it made them one dimensional on offense all year.

Cape played a weak schedule and it is killing them. You do not get better beating up weak teams.

cape was dominated in the 2nd half

central defense did a great job

incentive may have been cape asst coach saying last year"every thing i called worked ,it was easy"--billings[acorn does not fall far}

cape record vs central in last 20 years 1-19

Smyrna over CR 36-33. Shouldn't have been that close. S defense showed up big. CR coaches didn't let guys shake hands after the game. Very disappointing. Told some of the coaches that CR was better than that and I might have mentioned the term "bush league". After some back and forth mild barbs exchanged, coach said that there was a reason and I walked on. If this was to teach them a lesson, that's not the way to do it. If you are afraid that your players may not behave themselves, then there is a real discipline issue. Towards the end of the game, a CR player was shown the sideline for something he either said or did, walked behind the coaches and not one coach addressed him. It was senior night at CR and it just seemed a shame that they were told to walk off the field like that in their last home game. Some kids wanted to shake hands but were prohibited by coaches. To the head coaches credit, however, he did come to the fence as Smyrna exited to shake hands with each kid. I gave the coach a verbal attaboy for his gesture.

Smyrna out scores CR 36-33 and out classes them by a much larger margin!

Quick question.......Rule states that if a player gets ejected from a game, said player must sit out the following game. Does the rule apply to coaches as well?

With the Concord game being a must win for Newark to stay in the playoff conversation, I think it would be crucial for Simpson to be on the sidelines with his team.

Its a joke really.. ]

Feel bad for the transfer QB ,,, Newark High has more talent but coaching is a joke.
RR2- I have a good deal of respect for you because you know more about football than most. We have met but I did not realize it until you gave me your business card. If not on a tight schedule ...we could have talked Delaware HS FB all day.

.Now I need to be real clear- I do not like Butch at all when he is on the other sideline but I respect him as much OR more than almost any coach in Delaware HS FB history. And yes-that includes the RLCA crew. I am aware that may hit a lil' too close to home for you and I truly mean no harm.

.....The fact is that Butch is one of the best Coaches to ever Coach in our tiny little state. And I have witnessed him utilize and adapt to his talent as well as Billy Cole/Don Burawski etc.

I would bet that if RLCA was legit or not and were permitted to play some of their teams.....your boys would have lost.
And Caravel.......not much difference.....If Butch/Billy or Don coached them now.....trust me - you would be their biggest fan......

Simpson got lived high getting athletic rich during the days of court ordered busing. The bill is now coming due.

Did you at least buy something? haha... I am aware of the history of Newark and their dynasty years.. Most people Ive talked to have said those teams were school choiced stacked up teams.. none the less I just go by what I have seen the past few years and I see an undisciplined squad.. You put that on the coaches IMO... Butch may be a great coach , maybe the game has passed him by, maybe the kids are just different today and don't respect their coaches.. who knows.. My only point is THAT team should be much better than they are.... just saying

RR /not sure that the game has passed Coach Simpson by, I think he is a great coach and great for Delaware for High School football, But I agree that Newark showed lack of discipline and they made several mental mistakes too many to over come, I think if not for the injury to Campbell and all the penalities this game could have gone either way! With that said we can't deny Middletown's running game, Brew & Datillo have accounted for 18 tds in the last 3 games ( 31 combo for season). MT pass defense is struggling, they have to hope to out score their opponents!!

RR- got it!
and I agree - some things have changed at Newark and many other schools.......must be in the water lol!
And that's kinda strange for a Simpson coached squad-he has taken less talent and done more......who knows???
