Jeff Mullen 2017 Week 9 Delaware High School Picks

That's all I'm saying. Imagine if Parker, Kane, Denard, and Bowman played into the 4th quarter against the likes of Seaford and IR. They would probably have 400 yards and 10 TD's......no joke IR and Seaford are just that bad. Instead they put in back ups to give them time. This is also beneficial, because it keeps legs fresh and keeps players out of the way of injury. I would never wish an injury on anyone, but imagine if Knight went down vs SC late in the 4th, because he was still in the game when he shouldn't have been......the movie, Friday Night Lights and Boobie Miles anyone?

Imagine if Will played for Milford and had a bunch of 165 pound defensive linemen trying to tackle him. He would have a 40 yards per carry average easy. And if Bowman was on smyrna he would be backing up Will and Whaley

Also Knights offensive scheme and competition hurt his projection to the next level. 70 percent of his rushing yards come when the d has 5 and 6 men in the box. Compare this to Roberts who always faces 7 sometimes 9 in the box.

Or the most extreme example from this area Ben Tate for his highschool career 80 percent of his rushing yards came facing 7 or more men in the box. With something like 30 percent with 8 or more. When a running back at a small school with bad competition puts up production like that it projects better to the next level.

Knight probably moves to slot in College. He has great hands.

Sorry but you are a moron. If you knew anything you would know that, especially this year, when smyrna goes to their earthquake formation Will does the best. And that’s with every single swinging pecker loading the box and almost no threat of a pass (almost). His sophomore year he ran for like 200+ yards in one half against a really really good William Penn team and most of that was out of the earthquake formation, when a bunch of big D1 players were loading the box.

It was THAT game that really showed what the earthquake can do if played correctly. Not that Will wasn't great before that game because he was. But that game alone is what made him a house name in my opinion. You could tell how special he was and how much more he could be, as you sat there watching him pick apart that Penn defense.

You don't know where he will end up and no one was discussing if he were the best back to ever come out of Delaware. In addition, you can't use where he is going as an indicator of much. The best back to ever play in DE might be working at McDonald's because of grades, or working on his Dads soybean field because he had to follow in the family tradition. Some chiseled, plumber's son from 1960's Claymont might have been the best given an analysis of the metrics. The point is that people always give the people that they have seen with their own eyes extra weight. I have nothing more to say about inflation. If his stats are considered inflated, so be it. Good for him. So is his humility, kindness, and respect for others. I'm sure he'll take a side of "stats" to go along with those.

Grahm is a better and bigger athlete than will but he's not a better running back
Will is a better running back. Bam is not a traditional running back in nobody's scheme but Concord's. He is a fullback. Colleges list him as an athlete. From what I am hearing, all of his D1 (FBS) offers are to play fullback and/or LB/SS. I said it in another post that being listed in HS at 6 ft. 230lbs, I wouldn't put him in the category of being a RB at the next level. He's athletic, strong, big, and fast, but after Delaware HS football is over, he is a true fullback or will play defense at the next level.

That's an invalid argument! Imagine if Knight played at Dematha, he'd sit behind whoever they have. Plus just goes to show your arrogance towards D2. Ask anyone that played Woodbridge last year, that defensive line was probably the best in the state, and no they didn't weigh 165lbs. Not many D2 in the South have that small of lines. Let alone DMA probably averages 225 plus.

We often are splitting hairs when evaluating RB from small schools. It’s about body type, speed , athleticism. And not if they dominated competition, but how they went about doing it is the key difference. If you know who has offered each kid you will understand what the programs think of them. Both of them have been evaluated by the same coaches. The offers tells you the results.

Looks like a good collection of backs in Delmar tonight. Underclassmen and established. I Love Milford’s bowmen.

They are both great backs, but they are different and have two different styles and abilities. If Delaware were to ever play in a state vs. state all star game. I would definitely put Will and Bam in the backfield together as starters for our state, to go up against the competition.

I tend to agree with this and probably ends up at OLB. Again D1 colleges tend to recruit the best athletes from small schools and move them to different positions. My personal belief about knight is the same. He may play RB at UD. But other program he moves to slot. Body type plays a big role in this. It’s becoming more and more about that now for better or worse. For example a new metric programs are using is knee circumference for offensive linemen. They flat out won’t recruite positions without meeting their criteria. It’s all about the staff and what their philosophy is. Makes me sad to see but that’s just the direction things are moving.
