Jeff Mullens 2016 Playoffs Predictions Week 2

As most of you know I rarely do predictions, but when I do they are often incorrect. Last year however, I got on a playoff roll and would like to see if I can do it again. I find the Caravel-WB game fascinating. I watched WB play three times this season, two times from the stands and once at field level. When I watched them play at field level, they looked much faster than I had seen from the stands. One thing they have not had to do is open the playbook, I think there are some wrinkles in there that have not been seen as of yet. Plus they have a tremendously deep backfield.
On the other hand, I know very little about Caravel. This is a team that has overcome adversity and won a game or two that most thought they didn't stand a chance in. They have heart and they believe in themselves. So what I am thinking is, like I have said all year, is that they should settle it on the field. Good luck to both squads and congratulations on being in the final four of D-II, enjoy the ride.

Raven you really showed how much you are on top of High School football they just scored 38 points on Sussex Central the same Def that held Smyrna to 22 Points. Bash were you may but least have your facts right. Wp can score some points on Smyrna. The Def they just faced from Sussex Central is better then Smyrna Def. I still think Smyrna is the better team. But Wp has come a long way and is playing good football. I look forward top see what Dooley can come up with to try and slow Smyrna down. Smyrna has given up 20 points are more in 4 game CR, Howard, Sussex Tech, Sallies. I think Wp is as better then all these Offenses. So Yes they can score in the 20 or 30 but they have to stop the best offense in the state that's the question.. Best of Luck to Smyrna and Wp... I look forward to seeing the game...

If Penn can use the clock and stop Smyrna on 2/3 of their possessions, it is doable. We know the Slowskys are a quick out on the road at Middletown. The bus ride for over 30 minutes seems to put them into a trance.

Actually I was just giving Jeff some lip and was being a smart ass. I was't so worried about accuracy.. and yes Sir you do take this stuff far more seriously than I do.
Caravel is undefeated at the D2 level just like Ghigh was and Woodbridge is. They beat Cape while WB beat D1 Dover. Caravel has played much harder schedule. Woodbridge has looked dominant.
Going to be a great game I think Caravel wins and then beats Stg next week to win itall.
No one on this forum is an expert and no one on here claims to be.. Its funny the perceptions people have... but 20-0 Ca over WB is not one prediction I have seen anywhere on here,, so that is a odd claim
It has nothing to do with football.
The first reason is that one of my grandmothers was a devout Quaker.
The other reason is that Tattersall has 302 wins and the game is being played in area code 302.

He needs a Friends win and a Sals loss to award the City #1. Shameless to justify the "bus ride" factor that has backfired so many times that now Middletown can somehow give that some credence ? William Penn pick is gutsy and on target,

Yea. Those reasons are as good as any. Thought you had some good inside scoop that the rest of us don't. Both teams like to pound the ball with seldom passes. It's going to Mano a Mano in the trenches and should be a good one to watch
No, I just want to wait until the city teams have completed their seasons. Friends is outside the City. There is a gnawing feeling in many Slowsky fans that I know that this team has underachieved.

Not taking anything from SC, but when referencing the Smy/SC game, let's not forget the 30mph winds and more importantly...the absence of LB4 and M. Vass. Although, I wouldn't have changed a thing now...the Eagles needed that punch in the face and hopefully they've built off of it.
I think you can throw all the points scored and points allowed out the window...it's gonna be a good one and WP will come ready to play. Hoping the Eagles are ready for em.

When two teams play each other twice in a year the games never repeat themselves.. If they did you could make a fortune in Vegas

BDN may not be as open to adjustments but his playoff experience speaks for itself. Maybe he'll surprise everyone and throw 25-30x(Gwynn has some playoff experience). Ok, that didn't sound right as I was typing it.
MDP has the horses to win it that he didn't have last year...or a lot of years when he's made a run.
MD just seems to be there every year..he may have the numbers but also has an added challenge to coach at WP. Not just anyone can do what he does.

Sorry, no disrespect intended. Several of you that have seen Caravel this year point out that they are athletic and big. The Caravel teams that I have seen in the past have been very disciplined and execute very well. Couple this with the fact that Laurel just 3 weeks ago held Woodbridge to a mere 10 points and I believe that Caravel should defeat Woodbridge 20 to 0! Sorry if I offended anyone with this!

I wouldn't call smyrna a dark horse. I think if I had to put money on it I would probably go with Middletown but I think smyrna could win 4/10 times.

With that said, if I put money on it, Smyrna would win, 6 out of 10, neither 6 being in convincing fashion. But 1 of them because of terrible referees.

Laurel head coach was Woodbridge assistant coach for past 6-7 years so he knew all those kids on that WB team and knew coach manlove style of play cause he was with him for 10+ years so laurel was prepared more than any team they played this year
It's the Philadelphia eagles fan in me....I am never confident in a win. That being said, I believe in the kids and their drive to be the best so if they lose it will not be because of lack of effort....or support from the community.
I'm a sentimental type, so I'd like to see Woodbridge win it all because they'd truly be among the last of the Mohicans, so to speak, as a small public school to win it all. Caravel, however has been playing the best football of anyone in the state over the last two months, so I don't know if that stops Friday night. Should be a great game though.

Torn here. Feel obligated to take WB since they're a public, and from HC...but met Coach Reed during the off-season, and impressed w/the job he(and his staff) have done this year.
I think WB has their work cut out for them...hope they think so too! Gonna wuss out and just hope both teams play their A games tomorrow.

DENative - I feel your predictions may be right on. I do feel Middletown and Smyrna will win. But I feel both games will be good football games. All four teams in the Semi Div I have great Coaching Staffs. I have nothing but respect for them. They all are hear not by accident. There programs are a reflection of the Staffs, Congrats to All. Div II STG and Woodbridge I think will win. But Caravel could upset Woodbridge. They have played the Toughest Div II Schedule so they are tested. I cant wait to see the Games.....There is always a surprise which team will it be...???
