Sals did not play well. Malvern face off specialist totally dominated. Malvern scored twice within seconds of this kid winning the face off. Malvern was the better team today but refs did not help. Six flags against Sals led to 4 goals for Malvern. Only one flag against Malvern and that was it. No other calls. Not even a push. Malvern goalie was tough. Big quick and athletic.

It was 9-1 in the third quarter. Sals couldn't penetrate Malvern's defense until they put their back up's in in the fourth.

Having allegiance to both teams I drove over an hour to see what I hoped would be good lacrosse. Was sadly disappointed by the Sals. Their game strategy if they had one was placed on the shoulders of one midfielder, #9 who displayed poor skills. No stick, not particularly fast or agile, fairly good east-west because he barreled over his opponents but no field sense or lacrosse IQ. Not sure he ever left the field, even took face offs when their starting face off man proved unsuccessful. A good team will create opportunities and not try to force opportunities. Malvern’s goalie is every bit as good as his reputation but was not challenged last night. Three of the Sals goals were good but two were in the last few minutes when the Friers were guaranteed the win and had their second/third string players on the field. Malvern looked sharp and executed easily against the Sallies defense. Good win for Malvern at this point in their season. Can Sallies win the state title again? Probably due to the low level of competition in Delaware but then again I can not recall a team ever being successful when they rely so heavily on one player and a mediocre one at that.

I agree that 4 and 9 from the Sals tried to do too much. But not true that Malvern had the 2nd and 3rd string in at the end. I thought the same thing, that Malvern had gone deep to the bench but I specifically checked the player roster to see if the Sals were scoring against back ups but from what I could see by quickly scanning the field and checking the numbers on players backs, most of the Malvern starters were in til the end.
