Well done boys. You let another Charter in and they re-balance the divisions. Sussex Academy and ECHS are both in the South, without football, and they make it 8 up/8 down. Idiots...
Academy and ECHS are both charters, which screwed Milford royally.
I believe ECHS will have a varsity football team next year. Milford must be the biggest D2, which will now bump them to D1. Insane.
Milford didn't "hide" anyone. 8th graders played middle school, 9th graders played high school. No exceptions. The use of the Central Academy for 8th graders was due to the emergency closing of the middle school.Considering how Milford hid their freshman in their 8-9 middle school it was only a matter of time before DIAA moved them up! Should’ve happened years ago.
Academy and ECHS need to be independent first before going into conference. It’s going to take time for their programs to develop.

Does this have any effect on Newark now?
2009 Milford team (year after they won D2 States) went 6-1 vs North opponents losing only to CR. So its possible.I would have to say good luck to Milford when they come back into the North. In football you have Smyrna, Central and usually a up and coming team. Last year it was CR. This year it is Dover. Tech has lots of size. Then go to the playoffs and wait for Middletown, Sallies and HVT. It's brutal........Wrestling is just as deep and competitive.
So how is this DIAA's fault? The rules are pretty clear. Reclassify teams based on Sept. 30 enrollment. DIAA doesn't tell the conferences who they can and can't accept. You should be upset at the Henlopen Conference for accepting ECHS and Sussex Academy.More uncompetitive football......yippee. Complete idiots at work. DIAA just doesn’t care. Everyone should just drop out of all the conferences . Screw DIAA.
The only way it would effect Newark is if one of the Flight B schools has a higher enrollment than them.. The enrollment numbers were due 9/30 but haven't been published yet
2017/2018 numbers
D1
Polly 1188
Concord 1182
St G 1146
Newark 1131
HVT 1125
D2
Milford 1054
Mt P 1024
AI 999
IR 939
Lake 928
Mt P or AI would have to surpass HVT or Newark for any movement.. so Ill go out on a limb and say Newark stays D1

Wrestling is 11-10 vs North in last 5 years while winning D2 Duals title each year.

I'm just saying that in the last 5 years, Milford would not have won a title in football or wrestling. Just my opinion. The North is strong enough, then sprinkle in some of these independents and it is a whole new world.
HVT is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to football. Despite their enrollment they have top 5 D1 school numbers in terms of participation in their football program.. 80-100 each year
How close did they come to being D2?
Any guesses why HVT has so many kids go out for football?HVT is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to football. Despite their enrollment they have top 5 D1 school numbers in terms of participation in their football program.. 80-100 each year
Look what happened to William Penn. St.Georges and Hodgson have bleed their talent pool. Sussex Tech has always pulled kids from western Sussex County. Polytech is the one that makes no sense. Beautiful facilities, state of the art technology, but they haven't figured it out. Could be local school pride still matters unlike above the canal.Well I’m just surprised more of these athletes don’t start going to tech schools. You have the opportunity to have the best athletes from every county going to one school! Long gone are the days of home grown talent and shut down the town for football with school choice.

It is my understanding that Newark made the D1 cut for the next two years at least. Their schedule includes all Flight A teams, and 3 Division 2 teams probably because they weren't sure what conference they would be in so they set the schedule up accorinngly, much like when A.i. And Hodgson swapped. Their schedules were set, they just flipped them.
I don't disagree with you. Obviously, Charter agreed because they bailed on Flight A specifically because of football. There could be a better way to come up with divisions. But this is the system they use.Because DIAA rules don’t work and they never get changed. I don’t believe schools should solely be classified by enrollment. It doesn’t work . Other states have formulas they’ve developed to classify their teams. Check the scores every weekend. Uncompetitive , blowout football. Delaware is too back woods stupid to fix anything.
Most people enjoyed watching charter lose to Middletown 70-0 every year because oh well they have 1500 kids in their school. That must mean they’re good at football right ? Nope .
