too many losing seasons. and/or they may have a viable candidate they maybe looking at to replace him. they haven't had any major recruits and he wasn't keeping any talent that was instate from leaving. UD probably had better years when mike brey was here for that short time
They need to revamp that program and provide the state with top level competition worth seeing. People will fill the house if they present quality, nothing else in Delaware sports bigger than UD. 1. Recruit good quality coaching talent. 2. Get out of CAA & fight to join big east, A10, or ACC which will also attract better talent. 3. Make serious effort to keep more top instate talent 4. Get a restraining order for MrBBall44, bad carma.
They've already said the search won't begin until a new AD is in place. Nothing will happen until then.

Join the ACC, A10 or Big East with a 6,000 seat arena? Good luck with that.
They should bring Mike Pegues back as head coach. Alumni and top scorer from Breys days as head coach. Now high assistant at Xavier in charge of east coast recruiting the last 3 years. They give him lots of credit for their current success. He was assistant at UD working with the bigs for 2 years before Xavier.
UD needs a serious upgrade to its facilities. That goes for football and basketball. If they upgrade their facilities then they can make some moves.
BTW, is it me or did Monte not really get a fair deal, he was a year away from going back to the field of 64, had an all right year last year, and this past year like half of his team was hurt. Literally finished last half of season with walk ons playing big minutes, could have had better players this year but they never came because of Ross' job still up in the air, think its more the AD than Ross.
Really?!?! An alright year last year?? They were 9-9 in CAA yes, but 10-20 overall.

How many more millions must the taxpayers sink into this crater? Villanova is a top 10 basketball team - and regularly thumps the Blue Hens in football - with lesser facilties.
The Blue Hens have nice playpens. If they're not winning enough for your taste, there are other reasons.

If it was such a great facility "crater" would not have been used lol. Just being funny I get what your saying.
The Pavillion seats 1500-2000 more people than the BOB. If they upgrade the Bob they can then look into joining a better conference which in turn will get you some better talent. Imagine if U of D was able to keep just some of its home grown crop. Jones, English, Cooney, Donte, Hartand or Dixon just to name a few.
It's possible that if given the chance to play a big east or A-10 schedule that those kids stay home. By those guys staying home you just increased your fan base and fill those extra 2000 seats

If Stan is interested they would be stupid not to talk to him. I would bet Stan is not interested or it would have already happened. Pegues is a very viable solution to the job. If he wants it would be a no brainier. He already is talking to recruits for Xavier. Knows the school and facilities.
They need to get Waterman or Pegues soon or it will be another wasted year. At least if they sign one they can start the process with the team and recruiting. Settle things down.
For the people who want to move to another conference. Question is would any other conference want this program as it stands? Probably not. Lets win the CAA a couple times first and get some traction with a new coach and recruits. Maybe start to fill the stands a little too. Get the students involved. If they start winning the school and the facility is good enough to bring in better players and move to a bigger conference.
How do you upgrade the Bob? Build a new building? Blow out the roof? They need to win in the CAA first. Fill the stands they have. They struggle to get 2000 to any games. Been that way for years (since Brey). No one is going to spend the millions necessary to make something that works already bigger now.
Watching duke vs Yale. They get it. Great academics, great sports. They compliment each other. UD to busy trying be wannabe ivy league, ivy leagues have already figured out how to have great programs that win and still maintain there place in the academic arena.
I think Stan and Pegues alone would draw a bigger fan base, just from their reps in Delaware, will take time to develop, plus Stan would definitely be able to recruit more home grown talent
