Myles Cale

Congrats to Myles C.

Here's what I don't get. Cale to a Big East school playing national schedule etc.

Dixon is to me is a superior player. He's going to Quinnipiac...??

This is a good question. I too am surprised....

If Mikey was Myles size he'd have a lot more options. Not many 6'1 shooting guards suiting up for high major programs.

All about exposure & how we present our kids to college coaches around the country. @ 6'1 he can play point gaurd high major with his talent. But if no one's shouting there's a extraordinary talented pg in delaware you need to see, coaches not coming to Delaware unless u Iverson or a big. Without the work he put in himself & last summer with We R 1 his talents may have been overlooked. Myles not only is bigger but has had more exposure outside delaware playing with sj jazz on under armour & outside delaware in general. People are going to say there he goes again with this AAU but if u want to get more scholarship opportunities that's where the college coaches are. Sitting around depending on most delaware high school coaches is a fools game. Your exposure is not their priority. Both these kids are great examples for younger players aspiring to continue on at the college level. Congratulations to Myles, enjoy the rewards for hard work.

I wish we didn't have to rely on AAU to get kids exposure. Really, it's not that hard to record a kid's high school game and put together a package to send to coaches, but the idea of AAU ball has trumped high school ball for a while now and personally, I hate it.

But Myles definitely earned this. Tall, rangy kid with explosiveness to the basket and a nice outside game. They haven't grown on trees in this state, so that definitely played a part in it.

But I think Mikey will be just fine at Quinnipiac. 4 years from now, he'll probably be the school's all-time leading scorer and get some pro looks.

Definitely agree Gatekeeperrefugee, the AAU reality is a difficult pill for me to swallow as well because I'm big on development, but if no one sees your hard work its no cash for school. Look how many of our kids that can get even D2, D3 money for education not signing nothing.

On a different note, many kids around the state need to realize if someone offering u d2, d3 money for a good school & that's your only offer, take the $$$$. It's crazy to sit around waiting for d1. That offer may be gone. D1 may not be your talent level, be honest with yourself.

The reason AAU has become more prominent in the last 10 years is because it solved a lot of the “what if” questions. Back in the day a college coach or scout could watch a kid from PA play and then go the Florida, and/or California and see a similar kid. And then say wow these are three great kids that play in the same position. But which one do I go after? Which one is the better player? I wish I could see these three players go at it to separate the three. Now 10 years later, that is now a possible option , whether it’s a showcase or an actual tournament setting. It gives a clear cut determination to a coach which player has the better talent vs each other. And that why AAU has become bigger, better, and more intriguing when you have chance to see young players match up and determine who is the better player for your program or to recruit. Perfect example. I have been watch a kid Damon Harge for some time. Kid looks really good on training and video. Also seen him dominate his age group. I have been following another kid Jasun Agusto both are in two different states and cities. To the un-training eye they are both great. But which kid would you pick as a college. Well, they did meet. And you’ll have to judge yourself who is the better kid. The other situation is there are number of un known players who had no hype, and went into and AAU a tournament or showcase and their lives have changes. The first one that comes to mind is John Wall. Virtual un-known going into the addidas tournament, then walked out a number one draft pick. LaBron james destroys lenny cooke as a junior at a showcase. Gets drafted out of highschool. Lenny cooke struggled to get his life on track afterwards. I don’t like it either but I understand. Myles Cale played for Tim Legler's AAU program and Mikey Dixon did not. Sometimes it’s who you know or where you went as an AAU program, or how hard that AAU program is getting your name out there for colleges to evaluate you. But I too believe mikey should have been at a higher program based on his skills. But if he is good like we think he is. His journey is just started. He’s a good kid

Also. Back in the #Day the 80s and 90s there was more talent in concentrated areas. now if kids don't end up at a prep or a elite academy together. Most times it's 1 or 2 kids who can actually play on every varsity team. Take Brandon Ingrham From Duke, His high school team was him plus advance JV players. He had to do everything, but he could so it worked. However you get my jist

He did not leave wer1 due to grades Mikey had better grades than a lot of their players. He left because the the guard position was stacked with quade green and duval
