Newark overcomes two 15 point deficits to beat Dover.

Dover led by 6 at the half. After Newark cut it to 2 late in 3rd, Senatots went on 10-0 run to open it to 12. A 12-2 run by Jackets brought it back to 2.

Newark took the lead with about 4 minutes to play. Down 3 with 7 seconds #23 from Dover hit both ends of a one-and-one to make it 51-50. Center from Newark who hit 2 clutch free throws in previous possession, got fouled, hit front end, missed second, got his own rebound and swished it for 54-50 final.

Newark just wanted this one more. Great game.

It was an exciting game, I’m not sure I’d call it a great game. It was a very sloppy game. Both teams shot horribly and turned the ball over way too much. Lots of hype on this board about Eden Davis. First time seeing him. Had 16 points but didn’t play all that good.

Eden is a good player...I’m pretty sure the extra hype mostly came from his father that was on here. I know for a fact he meant no harm & just has confidence in his son so wants to see him excel but when that happens I don’t think they realize sometimes that they make their kid an easy target for criticism for others as well & some people may even go as far as wanting the kid to fail just out of spite towards the parent. For example I know people that loved Lonzo Ball’s game then literally switched it up & started hoping he didn’t perform well after his pops started ranting (not in anyway saying Mr. Davis was that extra but using that situation as an example). Eden will be fine though...will probably land on 2nd Team All Henlopen North & Honorable Mention All State this year & one of the top 10 or 15 players next year in DE.

Please tell me how Eden Davis didn't play a solid game tonight??????? Yes, he only had 16pts. However, wasn't that because of facilitating and dishing to his teammates. He was perfect from the foul line (8/8), 50% from the 3pt line (2/4), a few steals, and rebounds. (Not to mention not getting the foul called in his favor at the end that would have put Dover up by 1pt.) (This was after the two free throws he made to bring them within 1pt) Are you seriously kidding me? Who had a more solid game for either team? Just curious...

Instead of shoving your sons stats down everyones throat and begging for attention why don't you just enjoy yours sons time in school while you can. Trust me it'll be his senior night before you know it. Your son will get the accolades he deserves, he does not need your help.

Wasn't planning on shoving stats down anyone's throat. You asked for me, and your boy said my son didn't play that well. So, if you see that as shoving stats down your throat, then please tell me why you called me out and I'm responding to a prior post? Ridiculousness!!! I'm going to enjoy my son no matter what.

You've been hyping him up on here for the last month. Don't get me wrong he is definitely a good player, and its obvious you want him to get recognition. Im telling you from experience on these boards for the last few years that you are not helping your cause. Champ Mosleys dad had a thread probably 60 pages deep just from his dad and people probably didn't give champ the recognition he deserved because they were exhausted from his father. Sit back and enjoy the ride, people will recognize Eden's game

Again Sir you error! In this very thread, you asked for me. In this very thread, someone said E didn't play that good. So, I simply responded to the inaccurate evaluation of tonight's game. I am not Mr. Mosley. I'm not at all concerned about people recognizing Davis. However, if I see a post about him that I disagree with, or want to weigh in on, I'm at liberty to respectfully do that. However, don't call me out and then expect not to hear from me. Davis has quite a few coaches following his matriculation and development on ncsa, so it's not about people recognizing him. It's more about going back and forth with you guys on the subject of basketball. The role of a father is never to just sit back and relax and hope your child does well. The role of a father is to put his children in the best possible scenarios to be successful, educating them about discerning right and wrong, and raising them to be strong men and women of faith.

Just to get to the game itself, seeing Dover and Newark for first time,,,

Dover has 3 shooting guards but lacks a true point guard. I think that accounts for having so many turnovers. At times, especially the first quarter, they were really clicking. The 10 run in the third took only about 90 seconds.

Defensively, they allowed way too much dribble penetration for layups. And not having much size hurt too.

Newark doesn't shoot well. Foul shooting awful until the end. They play hard though and defend pretty well. I give a lot of credit to McCants. Even when they were way down early, he kept coaching.

Both teams get in the tournament in the teens as seed. Good luck to both...

That kid Hodges played his guts out for Newark last night. As for Davis. It's the only time I've ever seen the kid play. He obviously has talent. I like his stroke on the foul line and his handle. But last night I wasn't overly impressed with the game he had, sorry, remember, one game. He seemed to be playing a bit out of control at times. Even so, I enjoyed watching your son play too Mr Davis.
