Next man up for Delmar

Thats a blow to the Cats? You know what school? I will assume a school with good lax and football programs? MIAA?

Woah. Does that hurt Delmar as far as a playoff team? Trader was most of their offense am I correct?

Yes, but I can not say yet. The focus is lax for sure. It is said that after a camp at Ohio State he is rated as 1 of the top 5 D1 recruits in the nation.

In my opinion the biggest loss will be on defense, while there is no replacing his athleticism anywhere the Cats will miss him more in the secondary just one man’s opinion .

I’m anxious to hear what school he is going to choose. He is a good kid who is respectful and works hard. That will be a loss for Delmar. However, he has to do what he feels is best for him and his family. I will be praying for him and his decision. He has my support either way it goes.

That’s what I figured they have dorms. Great School. FYI it’s McDonogh no U. Go DT tear up the MIAA then sign with the Terps.

About McDonogh they have an insane amount of endowments for athletics. The 19 mil Abesino gave to Sally’s is a drop in the bucket to McD. Tough school to get into kudos to DT for doing the work in the classroom to be able to get in there.

If it were about football I would say he should just stay home but if lax is his love then he has to go and he made a great choice academically and athletically. McD diploma is almost as good as a college diploma with the pipeline they have. Just saying

He could have stayed at Delmar and still received the looks he will ultimately have because of his travel ball. Most players in Delaware are seen in off season and not with there school teams anyway. Yes will his game develop quicker playing top MIAA teams - yes. But as for recruiting he is already know and those offers will be coming now that coaches can officially talk to him.

That's a great landing spot for him all around.

I still think Delmar's a state title contender even without him. D2 is either very level or very weak depending on your viewpoint.

As a massive college Lax fan ( my #1 sport to watch and by far) I can’t wait to watch him play. Hey Dante Terps or Bluejays. Take your pick lol

This is a huge blow for Delmar. Delmar’s QB position is a big question mark and depending on how things go, could be their downfall. However, nothing but love for Dante. Many knew this was probably going to happen. Just thought he may stay one more year. Can’t fault a kid for making a move to brighten his future. And I did hear playing football was also a factor in picking his new school.

Right now I’d say Delmar is a fringe playoff team. They have 4 tough OOC games to start the season.

St Marys will be tough doubt they come out of there with a W but the other 3 should not pose a problem for Delmar. Occasionally Queene Annes puts a decent team together but nothing Delmar can't handle

Parkside is expected to be pretty good. Delmar might be in trouble. Big question marks at QB and RB. And they only have 9 games this year. Going to need a few kids to step up big time.

yeah I don't know much about those bayside teams other than they aren't very good except maybe one of them a year whether it be Queen Annes, North Caroline or Kent Island

I usually do a thread forecasting wins, but in the interest of time and practice not starting yet, let's look at the top 3 teams from each D2 conference

Flight B - AI, Howard, ???
Henny South - Delmar, Woodbridge, maybe Lake or IR
Diamond State - DMA, Archmere, ???
Independent - Friends, Tower, Tatnall
Catholic (Non-conference) - St. Mark's, St. E, Caravel

So there are 13 teams that have legit state tournament hopes.

Tatnall, St. E, St. Mark's, Lake and IR are the lower tier.

Middle tier - Howard/AI/DMA/Woodbridge,/Archmere/

More than likely sure shots - Friends, Tower, Caravel

I think Delmar can still make a run at that bottom/middle tier.

Are you saying Caravel, Friends, Tower Are upper tier because they are just that good or because of schedule?

Because I would throw 1 if not 2-3 of those middle tiers up in the sure shot category

On this thread I think we are forgetting Woodbridge. Didn't Woodbridge beat Caravel in the playoffs a couple of years ago? Woodbridge also beat Friends in the Division 2 chip last year. I know the Raiders lost alot from last years team but they have a good nucleus of players coming back.

If we're going by schedule, absolutely. I do know Woodbridge graduated some important parts to their two title teams, but Friends and Tower always have...shall we say, friendly schedules. I liked Caravel winning four straight on the field (and a forfeit) to close 2018 with a lot of returning kids.

From what I am hearing CA is going to be pretty good this year... shhhhhhhh lol Potter looks like he could be a Reeder..Beast Mode

We will know about WB and CA week one when they square off.

CR and St G are a little worrisome. I have a feeling St G is going to be pretty good this year and you never know when Concord is going to pop up with a tough team. CA has a fairly tough schedule with only 3 puff games IMO.. I still think the schedule will give enough points where they could survive 3 L's though

Gate do win/loss predict on CA's schedule here is mine

@ WB toss up
CR loss
@ Laurel W
St G toss up
@ Glasgow W
@ St Andrews W
Concord W
@ Silver Oak W
DMA W
St E's W

If they lose to WB they could be in trouble IMO.. Hate that it is a bus game

I'll do you one better, BIB

Since I'm off work today and it's too damn hot to go anywhere, I'm going to do an entire thread of D1 and D2 record and playoff projections based off of schedule.

We hear this about Friends schedule every year and you are wrong especially this year. I am not sure you can call Friend's schedule "friendly". AI has been good last couple of years, Woodbridge is the defending state champs, Delmar is formidable, Friends lost to New Church last year, Sidwell always puts a couple a kids into D-1 football programs and Lake Forrest is also improved. Tower Hill will be good this year with that Brown kid back at RB.

Moreover, Friends has been to the state Semi-Finals or better each of the last (5) five years If they had such an easy schedule then logic will tell you that they should have lost in the first round each year. Off the top of my head, they have beaten Archmere, Milford, Lake Forrest, St. Georges, DMA and Tower Hill x2 in the play-offs. The have also beaten Woodbridge a couple of times during the regular season. Their 3 losses in the semi- finals losses to Milford, Howard and Laurel were all very close games that could have gone the other way.

It is my understanding that in-state schools won't play Friends and (St. E's) dropped Friends this year because Dooley is a Baby and thinks Friends ran up the score on them last fall when they didn't even score in the 2nd half.

Anyway, the point is Friends strength of schedule or alleged lack thereof is a bunch of BS.....I don't think you can say the same about TH.

That’s probably the most logical well said statement in a defense of something ever said on here. Usually posters get butt hurt and cry, you flat out said what you wanted with factual information, didn’t go off at the mouth, (the keyboard in this case) and therefore I applaud thee!

Haha Dooley a baby. That made me laugh and I agree, look if you had easy schedule come playoffs you’d be bounced out early. They made it far for last five years. They can play regardless of people think schedule is weak.

Looking at this year's schedule, you have a fair point. Friends is a talented team as is, but adding Delmar/keeping Woodbridge means they will have definitely earned their seat at the table.

Don't fool yourselves. Division 2 generally has 1-2 dominate teams then a bunch in a pack. Last year Woodbridge was the ONLY true dominate team and Friends was leader of a pack with about 8-12 others.

Friends schedule has a couple of different names but likely not any more difficult than prior years. The 3 teams that people are looking at as tough matchups may not be as tough as they think.

A.I. is a shell of its former self losing their 3 & 4 year starters at QB, both outside WRs, 1 slot, 3 of 4 LBs, both DEs and 1 DT, safety and 1 CB. A lot of production to replace but with another weak schedule could go 6-8 wins sneak into the playoffs and loss early.

Woodbridge loses a lot of production and leadership with that graduating class but has more in the cupboard than AI. Question is will the young pups in key spots catch their stride before the Friends game.

Delmar lost over 70% of their offensive firepower with losing Dennard and Trader. There were a well coached solid team last season that played a soft schedule and ran into the Woodbridge buzzsaw a round earlier than they would like.

Overall they should run through Sidwell, Tatnall and St. Andrews but Friends has lost a lot in McNeil, McAbee, Harron and Payne. Will they change up the system to let Wyatt carry them or Gise and other seniors rise in the moment. Lake should be better along with Tower Hill. ANC is a toss up. Don't be surprise if Friends finish 5-4 or 6-3. Not because of playing better teams but because last year team was really that much better.

Is it true I heard Woodbridge just got a QB transfer in? Not sure from where but heard he is a good QB. Anyone else hear anything? Maybe it was some bad info.
