No playoffs for Smyrna

Technically they are not out. They need to win out and need a lot of help. They will receive a good amount of bonus points. Also, with only having 9 games will help their average. I stated earlier last week that I think Sals will win the match up of the young guys. However with how they played against Dover in the second half, I am switching this to be a blow out against Sals. This will only depend if they recover and stay healthy. It looked like they had some major injuries against Dover.

No way a 5-4 team gets in the top 6.

Called this a few years back. They had a decent run with a decent group of kids. Back to reality. I loved few back then that were calling them a dynasty. I understand supporting your kids an wanting to believe they are on a special team, but if you know any history about DE football and dynastys, you would knw that even thier best team ever a few years ago wouldnt had a chance against the Penns, Newark, Middletown, Sallies, of the past. They would have gotten smoked. One good thing going for then is demographics, with the area expanding they should be able to pull some talent every year, but we shall see.

Smyrna's having an off year, but I certainly don't think this is the last we've heard of them. Their feeder program constantly develops kids and the people in that town are crazy about that team, so they'll probably off the grid for maybe this year, but the Henlopen North going forward isn't exactly imposing.

The feeder pattern and the overall boom in that area means Smyrna is here to stay. Down year for sure but they’ll be back.

I’m sure they will have some talent “move into the community” next year ,,, maybe a stud RB or stud QB ,,, get things back on track. Hahaha

Will Knight will be the same age next year as a college sophomore as a couple recent Sallies stars were their senior years of high school...does Smyrna take a page out of their book and bring him back? Is that possible? Would be a very intriguing move and immediately make this program favorites again.
