I know Lake has a tri-scrimmage at Lake on Saturday against Poly and St. George's I believe.

Next Friday they have another against Cape and Middletown.

Will definitely decide if this team is ready for that brutal schedule or not.

Who are Lake's big games?

Their first 3 games are against Hodgson, St. Marks, and Dover(used to be Bayside powerhouse Queen Anne). Sure Hodgson might've lost a lot but so did Lake. St. Marks will be tough in D2. Dover is usually pretty good and being D1 could help Lake later in season. Then the South schedule starts with Woodbridge(hard to judge with losing Wescott), Delmar(usually good and expected to be better), and Laurel(lost their top 2 RBs but still should be solid). It's tough to judge a lot of teams right now obviously but especially Lake. They were miles ahead of the South last season but with losing a ton of big time players(Flamer, Cornish, Thomson, etc.) it could be a tough season. A lot will fall on senior QB Noah Feague-Johnson and those first 3 games should tell a lot about the team will be this season.

smack there is a big difference in Lake losing allot and HVT losing allot... HVT fields approx 80 football players a year .. they have kids to replace...

St. G's looked good on offense, today. They have a couple of really nice fast backs. Lake moved the ball up and down the field on them.

Lake looks to be fine. Qb looks better than last year, they played St. G's even on both sides of the ball. Opened up the O. They have some speed and size at the receivers. D gave St. G's some big plays.

Poly had a good Qb. Not many play makers. They didn't really stop either team. Looks like they may have a tough year. But it was just a scrimmage.

I like Moffett but he is soft on his players.. They do nothing off season in terms of 7on7's or whatever..They are typically sloppy and undisciplined early in the season... Case in point CA thumped them the first game last season and that was only because HVT was not disciplined and were not conditioned... BUT in the end they will have the talent to be there...

HVT does nothing in the off season? Sorry they do not send their whole team to Titus. Funny how a former Caravel parent knows so much of what Hodgson has going on in the off season. And we all know that playing 7 on 7 means a lot to your off season and especially the regular season... Pretty sure that lack of discipline and conditioning has worked out well for them the last 2 seasons...

Thanks for the info SCash. Couldn't make the scrimmage today. Heard very little so far so this was very helpful. Hoping to make the scrimmage next Friday.

teamblitz.. you are correct.. that was out of line on my part.. my apologies.. feel free to delete my quote from your post...and for the record I am not a "former" Caravel parent.. at least not yet..

Glasgow vs CA scrimmage looked like two evenly matched teams.. CA made some plays.. Glasgow made some plays... QB for Glasgow looks like he got a bit bigger and better wasn't helped much by his receivers dropping passes... CA QB looked good as well... Not sure where I would put either of these squads in terms of D2 rankings just yet... Both lack depth and size... CA has some quick guys but small... Mandella Montgomery definitely stood out as one of the better players on the field... just my take

I was there as well RR. Good work by both teams. I agree with the lack of depth but both have good playmakers. My early bird rankings would be from what I am hearing:

1. St. G
2. Hodgson
3. St. Marks
4. Caravel
5. Lake
6. Glasgow
7. Howard
8. Delmar
9. Archmere
10. Laurel

Subject to change through the preseason...

Actually bone that is a pretty good ranking.. subject to change of course. I myself would have Delmar a little bit higher and St M and HVT over ST G .. but that is splitting hairs at this point in the game,, Not sure I would have CA top 4 but top 6...

I was at the Dover vs Penn scrimmage Saturday night and Penn's offense looked like they didnt miss a beat from last year. That new transfer from Conrad was dominatingcoming through the holes and the other back #6 was very fast. I think Penn could have easily put up 50 points if it were a real game. Dover looked like the same Dover a fast team that loves to pass. Dover's qb looked good and will do well.

WP's defense lost a lot of talent to graduation:Skinner,Staley,Lake,Lewis,Rhodes,Carroll,Lewis,Wilson !! Offensively they will put plenty of points on the board with that big O-line to run behind, but not sure if the defense won't give up as many against better teams.IMO

Lewis is still there

Anyone know how concord did against STM?
I went to check it out. Concord's run defense is very aggressive and strong. They rely on it a lot. It was evident when they got caught on a couple passes. They moved the ball pretty easily with Roberts, #21, #7 and I believe either #31 or #33. Overall, offensively and defensively, Concord was the better team. St. Marks is still a very good and disciplined team, and they can continue to win on that.
