Playoffs

here we go with the bus rides again :rolleyes: Bummy would approve :D

I was missed? It's good to be back.
Bummy has pointed out the Slowsky bus ride experience. If they played as well against Judge as they did against Middletown they would have buried Judge. The difference is the bus. I think the bus ride curse will continue for the Slowskys when they go to Westminster in a couple weeks. Then the bus ride to St. Marks....

There is 13-14 teams fighting for a playoff spot in D2.....but in D1 we know the teams of Middletown, Smyrna, Salesianum.......I will also add, Sussex Central and Hodgson.........does anyone have an opinion on who that 6 seed would be? Or who deserves it?

Deserve is relative in D1 because for the most part those schools have a tough schedule unlike most of the D2 contenders, but I'll say this - if St. Georges and Hodgson both make the playoffs after moving up, it's a pretty cool story, especially since Hodgson wasn't expected to be any good in D1.

It is a trap in the sense that you have a fairly young team coming off a very big win against a rival. I believe that young players just might look at the 2-4 record and dismiss Cape as a challenge. That is the trap/letdown possibility IMHO. It is only 1 point for a loss.
It is a trap game because if both teams play their best, Milford would win. But after coming off a big emotional win, there could be a letdown for Milford. Plus Cape typically plays their best against Milford for whatever reason. They were one of only two teams to beat Milford in their Championship season, and I believe Cape only won 2 games that year.

Besides friends, will those SPL teams make it?
Tower still has st. andrews, conrad and friends. Will they win those games?
St andrews has tower, friends, Perkiomen (Pa), and Tatnall. How about those games?

You can't throw St. Andrews in the hat. They do not contend for the playoffs. They have declined the invite several times when they would go 7-3. They can go undefeated the rest of the way, and still won't join the playoffs.

Not sure of the reasoning.

Is it because it is a boarding school and the playoffs stretch over Thanksgiving break?

St. Andrews hasn't had a winning record in years and their reason for declining is because they aren't trying to get their kids hurt. They strategically schedule their games against teams they can compete with so they can give their kids an opportunity to play football. They aren't trying to build a winning football program there.

Yes. Each time they've qualified, they've allowed the players to decide via vote whether or not to play. The kids have always chosen to go home. Can't blame them.

Being a top tier academic boarding school in the country it makes sense that they decline if given that opportunity. Their kids are from all around the world, football means almost nothing there.

@FOTG
you mean there is more to life than Delaware High School Football?!
hmmmm
