I am an alumnus of the school and have always supported it financially. On this deal though, not one dime! They have made a bargain with the devil IMO.

Dovetail I'm curious why you think it's a bad deal. For one, Potter got voted out in the Democratic primary last month so his hands aren't anywhere in this pot (thank God). Sallies gets to control most of who and what comes through Baynard and the money that goes with it - they still come out the big winner because if done right that is a MAJOR bag.

It's a shame Potter held the deal up the first time around because Baynard would already look probably 10 times better just with the preliminary touches, but better late than never, I reckon.

From the article its seems Sals had a contingency plan to build their own stadium on campus grounds.. not sure if that was real or a bargaining chip but maybe Dove was in favor that? Looking at the grounds on Google Maps looks like they have room to have done it just would have taken some creative engineering..

Council approved the Baynard deal 12-0 last night. Sallies will have 60 days to back out, but it seems like they have the money, so forward the project goes.

Gate and reason, I guess you know I am a Sals alum. I am sure that dovetail is a good man but this isn't a deal with the devil. It's a win-win. Yes, I was a little unhappy that the thing got delayed 2 years. Maybe Mayor Williams was trying to rush out some positive publicity before he left office.

No matter what, it seems like everybody is happy. I don't see Salesianum backing out. I am also happy that the city can use money to upgrade Eden Park.

I guess we know that with the naming rights deal Baynard will not be renamed "dovetail stadium."
