The original amateur hour has begun. As inconsistent as the Sals have been it doesn't matter. This tilt is Smyrna's to lose..
Wrestling season is upon us so Hugo is out. Gentlemen’s agreement between coaches has passed. This is and always was Debo’s team. I will take Debo against The Sals offense any day. Smyrna will slice and dice this crippled Sals team the second time around.
I only ever come around during the play-offs but this is my opinion
sals... very inconsistent. watkins is back but he’s obviously shaky nothing like he was before he was injured. Hes still a great player but you can clearly see him now vs last year. But with that being said the sals still have only lost against middletown by 1pt and only lost to smryna by a touchdown without him. They battled HVT the hardest any team has all year. Sals continues to struggle offensively (sometimes) but if theres any room at all, watkins is still good enough to make something special happen and maybe spread out the field alittle more the clones on top in my opinion. If they can block efficiently on field goals Simmons can make it from nearly anywhere. Gonna be the best game of the week. Smyrna... very aggressive but undisciplined. Theyre offense drops easy passes. Wth the knight brothers though they dont need to worry about passing the ball a lot. The smyrna defense is great both linebackers are very aggressive but sometimes too aggressive debo leaves his feet too much and times takes himself out of the play. Hes more of a home run hitter. He’ll lay a big hit but thats pretty much it. Hes very good but also very over rated. One player can’t do everything. If Hugo plays i think it will be more a lot interesting. But still i dont think it’s anything out of this world. Smyrna has played teams who aren’t that good at all. Sals had played everyteam in the play offs besides concord (Sussex in a scrimmage). And even beat dover pretty badly who almost got in before them. And the clones have also brutally beaten concord last year. These kind of games are nothing knew to the clones. Last year they also beat middletown...bad. Scoring just as many points on them as IMG did on them. While doing it in there own stadium. Same thing with “the greatest team in the history of football” (hvt). I hate to say it but i think they will do something special again smyrna isn’t anything special
Debo and the rest of smyrna is nothing crazy and is very over hyped. Sals still nothing special very inconsistent but definitely the better team. Crazy to think that some of you are so brain dead to obvious... debo only hits hard. Thats it nothing special from that kid at all. Thats all smyrna has. I graduated from stmarks so i choke when i say that but i truly believe that. I also believe most of you have no idea what uou are talking about and are just so star gazed by this kid called “debo”. Hes a good football player no lie. Best defender in the state by far. Hes just hyped up a little much.
This year's Sals edition was a disappointment, mainly due to bad luck. They lost their starting QB before the season began (his replacement ain't bad. BDN, the kid can actually complete a pass). They lost Watkins who missed two big games and was only about 60% from then on. Still they disappointed because this group had a lot of players returning from last year when they overachieved as sophomores and juniors. Something just wasn't clicking like it was last season. Maybe they will catch lightning in a bottle like last season. We'll see.
